Not sure how to reply to that... people are seeking medical relief what does it matter to you where they go to get it?

I was wondering if you were looking to relocate. I see you are. If you or friend is legitimately sick then no problems.

Yes the people are coming in droves. The same rush that hit colorado is hitting oregon.
This is not directed at you personally, I'm just letting you know there's a decent influx of people coming to OR for both MJ and non MJ reasons. You can imagine this affects everything from availability of housing, public opinion on MMJ, crowding etc...
If you got a career and can purchase a place you'll have better luck.

But you may find yourself irritated by those obviously flocking there to grow commercial and ship product out of state because there's no more room in CO or CA.
Then there's the individuals who randomly decided to adapt the "self sufficient, naturalist outdoorsy lifestyle" as its trending and television told them it's the cool new thing to do.

Surely you know there's been a huge rush out west between california and colorado over the years.
Colorado is now completely over run.
California has long been but they still keep coming.
The influx of "growers" is astounding. Most can't grow for shit and want to produce commercial to ship out of state for profit.
The Oregon locals know this and will try their hardest to keep it away.

Most recently the green rush spread into northern california, the last untouched region by outsiders and a strong hold for old school california native. Its now overrun with mid west/eastern transplants, vast majority NOT legitimate med patients or skilled growers by any means.

Now its really expanding into OR.

This said I hope you are able to find housing as there is heavy discrimination against out of staters, especially those who want to grow.
Even if you have MS or are dying of HIV or cancer a fair number of locals/landlords don't care as they're completely opposed to MMJ, period.
Many land lords are so jaded from locals (especially out of staters) wrecking their properties, growing over the limits and exploiting the medical scene etc.
I'm not saying your going to do this, I'm just saying many land lords are extra skeptical of out of staters. Many fear medical marijuana and are trying very hard to keep it out of their towns and homes so they don't become the next CA or CO.

As an out of stater I observed this first hand trying to find a place out there. It was near impossible to find a well maintained property with a good land lord who will also let you grow. Its the magical combo that is very very hard to find.
Most places who are "cool" with you growing are also "cool" with leaving their house in a dilapidated state, shit broken, never repaired or cleaned, and scum bag tenants abusing the place lease after lease.
Look around out there and you'll probably see what I'm talking about- especially if you look in Eugene or the surrounding rural areas.
You'll definitely find the anti-outsider mentality in the cascades.

It won't take long to notice theres a whole lot of other people trying to move in, and if you got a really sick friend it may reallly bother you to see all these other people rushing in just to ship commercial out of state, or suddenly moving out there because they decided to become (pseudo) naturalist outdoorsman over night because its " all the rage". I'd liken it to celebrities buying up land in montana to "enjoy the great outdoors" until there's nothing left for the true/seasoned sportsman to enjoy.
In that context OR could be well on its way to turning into another colorado . Thats all I'm saying.
So watch out for the scum bag land lords and stay ahead of the "herd" if you can. As I said your competing with transplants from both non med and over run medical states.
If your buying property, choose well and enjoy the freedom.

For information on locations and general insight search the OR threads, they're dead on accurate and theres not too many to look through. Good luck.

I live here.
The above poster is right about the haters. For real.
But there are also the kindest people in the world, who will help their 'hippie' neighbors without batting an eye
My neighbors rent to a dude, and let him grow a few. There are hella properties available for purchase.
Renting is a bit harder. We lucked on the place we got, mustve been karma, and ive seen ads that say "ganja growers need not apply" and they dont give a fuck if your medical
its split 50/50, i guess, between haters, and those who medicate or dont mind
Good luck man

lol, funny thing, I was shown by some compassion group folks how to rewire breakerboxes, watched them rewire a few in Ptown, rentals, never telling the landlord, etc. So I don't know bout all the trouble being from out of staters, seems like the locals got it goin on too. That wasn't out of staters that got caught shipping from southern part to Ptown and shipping back to the east coast in Goodwill containers and getting caught awhile back and it wasn't an out of stater, the thcf assistant that got caught selling to Nevada, so it goes both ways, IMHO

I've heard of John Day and recall, there is something unusual and very stricking about it. So, I wiki'd it. The copy, isn't the entire post, but the first paragraph tells the story.
