where did you get those red seeds from?

ACE is the place. Cannabiogen has it too. They have a Punta Rosa that is supposed to be real close to the old Colombian Red. Not seeing it listed right now.

I started toking in '75. Man, we had so many choices. I remember comparison shopping. So much to choose from. Some people had 3-4 different kinds available. Plain old dirty sock smelling 'lumbo commercial for $15 oz, Red Bud, decent Mexi for $13 oz, Oaxacan, Acapulco Gold, Thai stick, and the local homegrown was to die for. Some of them local boys were already hybridizing the Mexi and Colombian. The best shit I've EVER smoked was grown by the local farm boys. Reputed to be C Gold x Thai/Acapulco Gold, or some variation of the three. It finished mid-late November and was solid purple. I remember laughing so much my sides hurt.

i miss those days

Never saw much 'high end' Mexi up this way, usually commercial brick or Guatemalan. Our 'higher end' commercial was usually Colombian ($40-$100 retail depending on grade). The 'John Player Special' usually fetched $125. Standard Jamaican ($30-$50 retail). And there was 'very good' Lambsbread and Kingsbread ($100-$150 retail).

Not much growing going on around here back then (our climate can be 'touch and go' at the best of times). It didn't take off until 'indoor' growing became in vogue so to speak.

If you grew up smoking the Sativas, like I have, then when you smoke Indicas, even many years later you are still missing something. You can get tanked, but where is the laughing and the fun? Sativas bring you up to party were Indicas just put you to sleep. Every time I smoke I look for the up and usually get the down. Indicas are so fast to produce and very reliable. Progress from a commercial aspect.

Yup, give the masses what they want huligan. A 'lot' of the stuff out there now makes me 'lazier than a cut dawg'! lol.

I'm more interested/focused in/on sativas nowadays.

Seems the only way to have a good Sat is to grow it yourself.

I have someone that supplies me a Lambsbread x Sour Diesel and it is pretty good. I know it is really not the Real LambsB, but it is still a heavily leaning Sat cross. Because it is Oregon I get a pretty good price too, like 600 qp.

Hey huligan

Pretty good price man. Yeah, 'real' Lambsbread was a very nice smoke, smoked a lot of it in Negril. I've been thinking the past couple of years, about 'reconnecting' with my rasta brothers down there. This thread may very well push me over the edge. I may go back this winter/spring and 'hook-up' with Maurice and family, to see if I can get them to 'dig me up' some of his 'oldtime' beans. I'd be very surprised if they couldn't....in fact, I'd be shocked I think.

Hey guys

Get a load of this! lol. This was one of my buddies! Fucking hardcore as you can get! He's actually written a book about 'the adventures'. I can attest that 'most' of it is factual!

Almost immediately after posting this ad, his phone began ringing, not just media requests but also from prospective employers seeking his business acumen. After receiving more than 600 job offers, he went into the television business as a producer and show host!

That's incredible... Wonder how he would have done in the US with that one:)

Hey 4Dragons

Yup, '75-'76 sounds right give or take. There was lots of really good Colombian around back then, but the JPS was the best. For me that's the 'top of the shelf' as far as Colombian pot goes. Didn't come any better...After all these years I often think of 'that taste' and how great it would be to savor it once again! I figure I'd smoked every conceivable strain that came from that country back then. We had a 'constant' supply. Man, what I wouldn't do to have a couple of bricks of that kicking around. What a truly excellent smoke! Even though there were others 'stronger' and it was seedier than hell, it was/is one of my favs of all time to be sure. I often wonder why a lot of growers 'tend to freak out' when they get a few seeds in their buds...no worries guys, some of the best bud I ever smoked was fully seeded North, Central and South American strains!

I actually had a very good connection in NYC. We were 'involved' with a lot of people back then, ya never know, may have crossed paths.

Thanks for stoppin' by, it's great to chat about those days.

When I returned to my childhood home a few years ago, my dad gave me a small box of stuff they had taken from me probably 1974 or so. In the box was a plastic case for ammunition about the size of a cig pack. I remembered it well, I carried lot's and lot's of that Yellow/orange Colombian gold that I had back then. Although my parents had thrown out the pot, the smell was still there over thirty years later in that tightly sealed box. It was amazing, for about a year I could open that box now and then and still smell it like it was yesterday. That slightly piney, is the only way I can describe it, but it was just as strong as it was 30 years ago. A few months later cleaning out the house, I went to the attic where as a child I smoked so much and dumped so many seeds... just hoping but all I found was mouse poop, a chewed baggie and bits of seed husk in a corner. Like others, I would give a lot to have a few of the Gold seeds, or Panama Red...

Hey, everybody. My faves from the mid 1970s; I remember my friend got a pound of this dark brown stuff called Colombian and he thought it would have to sell for 30/oz. We thought, "man, nobody will pay that much!" until we tried it. My all time fave was a gold Qoxacan, yellow in color, which was 40 which seemed astronomical but worth every penny. We also had a lot of red/gold Colombos for 35 for overflowing bags. Most notable was when we got a lb of hash about the size of a book, sewn in burlap with a blue sailboat logo on it. It was sandy colored and very hard to cut. And I can't leave without mentioning my favorite 'wish I had some now', CLEAR WINDOWPANES! just the best ever, although the Orange Sunshines were by far the strongest. Does anyone remember the purple pyramids? I better end this stroll down memory lane before I get depressed !

Hey terrace

Was it burlap or cheesecloth? I remember getting lots of nice red and blonde Lebanese in cheesecloth.

I also remember the windowpane, white & brown blotter, orange sunshine, purple pyramid, purple microdot, alarm clock...very well...or do I! lol

When I first did cid it was on paper only, windowpane. Then came along the Pyramid and such. The story we were told was one of the guys who first worked with the windowpane and when he came out of prison after ten years, he started the (eccchhh) pyramid project... Still the blotter was out there but it went real commercial with Disco and Mickeymouse, etc... In my opinion the real acid didn't have cartoons on it, just sayin. We had a great run here with purple micordot and mescaline, and then there was what they called "thc" which most of us thought was really pcp.. Those were tablets some pressed out, some just hand formed and rolled. We also had the occassional orange sunshine with it's characteristic black ball inside the orange shell..

At the same time there was a lot of pharmas around too like Black Beauties, and the red bullets, forget what they were called. Some of my buds did Thorazine, and yellowjackets, etc but that wasn't my gig really... I did get the occassional gram of meth here and there, that would last me and a couple buds almost a week, then we would sleep:)

That's all I remember for now, it was mostly in the 70's..

We called what came on paper blotter. My first time was on 4 way clear windowpane, looked like a little piece of plastic and I took just a quarter and was gone for 12 hours! A couple of friends I knew were kind of jaded about the quality of acid and took two whole hits. They didn't leave there room for two days, LOL!
