EZ cloner problems.

I don't run any of those additives at all and I still get near perfect results in 7-10 days. Only tap water, without airstones, with a cycle timer set to 1/5. Haven't changed a thing in a few years and it always works.

used to do it that way.
then i moved.
things changed and things changed hahahahaha
all of a sudden the ez wasnt working like it used to.
actually, it was the thrid place i moved too that started causing issues...

recently fired up my 30site ez after getting it back form a friend.
5ml silica blast + 2.5ml KLN = fast roots.

I just started adding the pool shock as a preventative, and maybe my clones are rooting faster it seems? Whatever it is the water feels great no smells things are stable... so far so good. all cuts are perky. i cant say it prevents slime but i dont have any now hahahaha

the timers are cute. they can help keep temps down.
ive seen the hard wired 1 on 2 off, seen folks go 1 on 5 off.... shit 15 on 15 off will work too. no timers now. well... i am plugged into a timer but only for the sake of the slide on/off switch instead of pulling a plug hahahaha

Whats KLN?

KLN is a liquid rooting solution by Dyna Grow.
Its like liquid clonex or olivias... Which i think would work similarly. Though i could be wrong.
Its cheap $10 for 250ml
Just add the ez rez and go.
2.5 ml per G.
I will say i add the silica blast (or you could use protek same stuff really) first then KLN the adjust ph to good range (6.2 yay) have the airstones bubbling while taking your cuts to give solution time to relax.

Faster heathier clones. Try it. You might like it.

Sometimes i also dip cut ends in clonex or olivias gel just depends on if i have it or not. But in the ez KLN FTW

I have the EZcloner and I like it but I'm having problems.

I am getting a thick film, (almost like when u make a creame of mushroom soup and you get that thin pasty layer on the top). This has happened to me twice already. It almost covers the airstone.

I have lost clones almost over noght.

This time I have taken apart everything bleached it and scrubed it inside and out....I couldn't believe how much of this (little half dimed sized pcs) kept coming out.

No airstones this time and I will be changing the rez every 3 days instead of every 5 days.

Has anyone else had simular problems?
Any solutions or recomendations?
Anything that might help I would love to hear.

Replied to a thread just like this a few days ago...

Once you get the slime(rot), you CANNOT get rid of it!!

I ran the biggest power cloner and four smaller ones..

I did every thing i could to get rid of the slime, including soaking my power cloners in a swimming pool for a few day so the chlorine would kill the slime, it did not..,

Bleach, physan, 35% h202, other shit, NONE OF IT WORKED!!

Finally got sick of wasting 1000's of clones, i went back to rockwool and WILL NEVER LOOK BACK...

YMMV

i must say i am not using the same ez i had in socal...
i bought a new one.

when i started getting slimed in socal nothing i could do fixed it. that was sad times.

in the 20 site bubbler i bought i started getting the slime here. i think due to the + temps. but got slimed nonetheless.

and that's why im pretreating the ez w pool shock now. as a preventative.

ive already bleached the fuck out of the bubbler & its powerhead.
im gonna fire it back up in a different room with the pool shock treatment and see what happens.

man i suck in rockwool. i guess i should practice while the ezs firing hahahaha. i tried practicing while the bubbler was working and i wasnt getting above 50%. shitty. I hate to say it. but its true....

Krunch gonna hit you up w some qs...

Yes and its city water. Comes outta the tap around 250ppm (.7)

thats ur answer right there, you water is already killing the bad bacteria and fungi that come about in well/RO water. I have a buddy who was getting roots in 7 days with jiffys, and at the same time I was doing the same thing w/ RO, 25% of mine died by day 10, half rooted in 15-20, the rest by day 25-30. all of his rooted, and only difference was water quality. when I started adding homemade Clear Rez, my success in The EZ 120 is 100%, in coco/perlite 99%.

Spread the word to anyone who has problems Cloning!!

my tap is 100 ppm max,and usually hovers around 10 ppm (we have all new water lines from a new treatment plant).
clones root in 3 - 10 days depending on strain, I have the opposite problem, I have to add heat to my cloner to keep it between 68 - 72 F

Results from my EZ-C 120.
First 3 pics are of the clones the day I t/p'ed them from the cloner to 1g pots.
The last pics are of the clones 3 weeks later. Already 12" tall and extremely vigorous and healthy.
I use tap water with a very high ec. left out overnight to dechlorinate.
With the EZ-C, the cuts continue to grow while rooting which makes things much easier to get healthy cuts with 0 discoloring or nutrient def's or t/p shock.

Keep goin

The times I had slow results, and slime on cuts. What I found is that there were little bits of old roots from prior runs stuck in the sprayer tips.

No level of bleach or flushing will eliminate them. I found that I had to go through by hand and stick a small wire piece through each sprayer to get them out. Then blast water through again, and re check.

Once you do that you should be fine...back to the regular battle (that others have mentioned) with heat in the res, etc.

I personally have gotten sick of it. Guess what the neoprene pucks the ezcloner comes with float! I'm now just floating my cuts in a 5 gal bucket with air pumped in...temps are stable..and I'm pretty sure I won't have a problem with the results. (I've run a "raft" style system in a fish tank before)

And I still have the benefit of not needing to mist the cuts everyday...the main thing I enjoyed about the ezcloner..put em in and forget em.

This is also my main reason for not going back to rockwool, rapid rooters, vermiculite, or any of the other mentioned solutions. I don't want to have to check on cuts every day...or else!!

Good luck

Loose the airstone! I just run a submersible pump... Clonex solution in the water plus homemade clear rez and recommended dosage. Theres a thread on here to make it from pool shock for DIRT cheap. Re-apply clear rez once every 3 days and once you start seeing roots I stop using Clear rez and start using Roots excel. Roots Excel makes the roots really kick off and has some sort of anti-fungal in it to keep things nice. Make sure rez temps are between 72-78 and you should be all set man..

Totally agree with all this except I discover (with Clear Rez or homemade--ie pool shock) you don't have to worry about temperatures.

Here's my recipe:
1. Bleach you system head-to-toe w/ 2 cups bleach, run the system for 30 min. Then clean every part and nooks w/ this same solution. wiping walls and unscrewing and soaking misters, drain valves and lid)
2. Low light, no more than 2, 2' T5 or shop lights @ 12"
3. Pool shock at about 0.01 - 0.03 g/gal (or bleach at 0.1 - 0.2 mL/gal). re-apply every 3 days b/c it dissipates quick
4. Replace cloning collars, they'll harbor that pathogen and it's hard to guarantee they're sterile. PermaClone.com offers heat sterilizable (bake for 2 hours or pressure cook them for 30 min--awesome!)
5. Run lower pH than conventionally believe. I found 5.0 to be a great start and let it rise to 5.5 over the course of cloning.

I run fill mine almost to rim, put in the ez clone pump with manifold. turn pump on so the water is moving around but not spraying an making a mess. Then add a few cups of bleach and let pump it around for about 20 mins. Then drain fill with fresh and turn on pump to flush for about 15 mins. Repeat the fresh water step 1-2 more times to make sure bleach is rinsed out. Get rid of the airstone and use the ez clone solution and the gel. Don't worry about a res change just put water and clone mix at 5.5-5.8 Ph and should have roots in 10 days!

Just make sure the room where the cloner is stays in the 70's because the water will mimic the room temp plus the added heat from the pump. Too hot or cold will effect cloning time.
