stem split

My girls are at day 54 going about another week and a half. I was putting some pressure on the one main stem and at the base where it splits in 2 it split down the stem about a half inch. I have wire holding it so it is pressed together but what should I look for as far and what this can cause?

it should be fine, you should see my bonsai mom's, i have several branches that i trained super low, so that they cracked like 3/4 off, i wrap them in electrical tape, and they heal...no issues really, obviously it's better to not do it but pots a hardy plant, it probably wont hurt it much.

be careful wrapping with wire if you still got a lot of time left budding, the stems can get strangled as they grow...that's why i prefer electrical tape, it stretches...

I dropped a cool tube on this mom and split it in half in the same way you're describing. A couple of zip ties and a week to recover was all it took. It may shock your plant that was damaged, but as long as its healthy it shouldn't be a problem.

As long as you dont break the stock completely through it will heal.. The outer skin wont help if the stock is broke. You must have some stock still attached for it to mend back together..

What about grafting? Is it possible to totally separate a stock and graft it back together?

I saw a guy repair his broken stem with a honey and home made alfalfa sprout extract (just alfalfa sprouts soaked in water) and a "bandaid" sort of fabric... think it worked well for him

you could try air- layering if it's vegetating, haven't tried it myself though...
