For smokers that like a drink

This thread is for smokers who like a drink. I like cocktails and I will be posting what I'm drinking. Sometimes. I encourage you to do the same.

So this evening while I am waiting for my spaghetti sauce to finish cooking I'm drinking a Diablo.

Diablo:

It is assumed the inventor of the Diablo is American Alex Kammerling but what is for sure is that Trader Vic's Book of Food and Drinks first mentions this cocktail in 1946.
According to his words: "I hate like hell to bring up unpleasant things at a time like this but go easy on this one because it's tough on your running board."

Recipe:
4cl Tequila Silver 100% Blue Agave
1.5cl Crème de Cassis
2cl fresh lime juice
12 ice cubes
Ginger Ale
Garnish: 3 slices of lime
Materials: Collinsglass, jigger, stirring stick

Add tequila, crème de cassis and lime juice to a collinsglass filled with ice cubes and top with ginger ale.
Garnish with lime parts and stirring stick.

i used to do cocktails.

now i like straight shots of vodka (i dont like constantly sipping the booze.)

or this http://www.dutyfree.is/en/products/afengi/sterkt-afengi/snafs/opal-vodkaskot-27-50cl/104-2026

its a drink that apparently according to some celebrity that was here (we get a gaggle, alot lately. ) you have to be raised up with the taste (opal is a candy.)

tastes great to me, absolutely horrible to some. (i cant abide the famous Brennivin (black death.)of iceland though, that one tastes absolutely horrible.)

If I want to get pelted, I do shots of tequila and chase it with a screwdriver

If I'm drinking beer, any brand will do (if you're buying). If I'm buying, I drink Anchor Porter or Pipeline Porter (seasonal). I also like Stouts like Murphy's or Guinness

I work a 12 hour night shift, and when I get home I will have a couple glasses of wine to relax along with a few bong hits. Just el-cheapo Sangria or Muscato.

I don't care for Whiskey (especially Jack Daniels, bleah!)

I'm really jealous of your Tiki collection

My spaghetti was awesome, as usual, but I'm still thirsty.

First served in the Pendennis Club in 1880 in Louisville, Kentucky. Only got famous after Colonel James E. Pepper introduced the cocktail in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York

Recipe:
1 peel of lemon
1 peel of orange
1 tsp of cane sugar
1/2 cocktail spoon of Angostura Bitters
Soda/sparkling water

i only do vodka shots at big parties. :D

but yah, store bought can be crappy, found some good stuff in vietnam though, forget the brand unfortunetly (it was my wedding lol, there were these guys in the corner who were real celebratory, i think i had 9 shots in about 3 hours, unfortunetly my metabolic rate is so fast i was sober by the time i reached the hotel (5 minute walk away. luckily i had a shit load of vn sativa there.)

thinking about making my own booze.. 750 ml bottle of cheap vodka, goes for 50 bucks here. (Assuming the dollar is still 100kr per.)

that opal bottle, i small sip it all day occasionally (about 3 times a year.)

but i have finished the bottle by night fall and aint but a bit drunk.

its really weird though, i can sip hard liquor all day, but i get drunk sooner from beer.

though the only thing to really kick my ass in a vicious way (lately)

was this 2l bottle of home made white wine that i put into the freezer.

had to puke and everything. lol surprisingly vicious hangover too.

tasted fantastic though, like syruppy heaven.

I haven't tried many brands of vodka, only Eristof, Smirnoff but now I got a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka. That Opal looks good though.
My sauce was canned tomatos, red wine and tabasco, simmered for three hours in a Le Creuset :)

Edit: and meat!

well, i never liked the taste of alcohol.

if its for solitary pleasure i do choose some finer tasting stuff.

but for that crowd of rowdy drunks happily going cheers/skál!/oh tsoi! or whatever.

its best to have a drink that makes everyone drunk pretty fast and an absolute necessity is for the drink to make everyone grimace like crazy.

the one who can down a shot with a straight face is automatically The Man. :D

Modelo beer. Maker's Mark "40" every now and then. In the hot ass summer, blend up a whole necterine, tequila, ice and some margarita mix. Salt the glass and drink it right through the brain freeze.

Sloeberry Gin Fizz

Sloeberry Gin Fizz

This is a sweet variation on the Gin Fizz and is an excellent aperitif. The Sloeberry Gin Fizz was one of America's most popular cocktails until the prohibition.

4.5cl Sloeberry Gin
1.5cl London Dry Gin
2 cocktail spoons sugar water
2cl lemon juice
1 egg white
12 ice cubes
soda water

materials: collins glass, jigger, strainer, shaker, straw
technique: dry shake/shaken

Edit: I think the correct English term for sugar water is sugar syrup. It's 2/3 sugar brought to boil and melt in 1/3 water, then cooled and stored in the fridge.
