still you cant profit from the income from an ilegal operation and not be guilty your self ,so taking the taax money from them makes them an accessory after the fact ,somebody needs to put this monkey on the feds back

The big push is for 'big' government, huge government and even though the People of California voted to make the MJ laws lenient for medical reasons, it wasn't the federal plan at all. Both Feinstein and Boxer are for federal control and that is the problem, there has to be a reclassification of Cannabis from a Class 1 drug like heroin to a Class 3 like aspirin. The People have to start voting out of office those that don't agree to reclassify marijuana. If your in California stop voting for Democrats who won't go reclassification. Marijuana is a huge cash crop for Lawyers, judges, bailiffs, defense attorneys, the guards union, the people who construct prisons, just in confiscation of assets the money rewards are to great for cities going broke. Make the politicians fear you because of your vote, once you have state legislates voting the way you want, make it known if you are President and have someone like Eric Holder as Attorney General making your life miserable you're going to de-elect him and they will listen. Dope smokers unite and vote, the time you'll spend in prison sooner or later will make you a believer otherwise. Vote Feinstein out just for not voting and working for re-classificaton for her constituency's. If everyone who voted for marijuana legalization in California voted against Feinstein for not voting like wise there would be a shock wave heard in Washington and you'd see legalization nationwide but as long as you kick back and roll a joint, you'll be doing time eventually.

Vote. Out. Incumbents. Period. Just do it.

Feinstein and Boxer almost enrage me with their platitudes. I write them often about different issues and the response is ALWAYS basically this message, "Thanks for sharing, I know better. Now fuck off."

Whos to say they are not building cases in CO as we speak.

As GS stated, the Feds like their fish to fatten up quite a bit before they pull in their nets and screw everybody. They've likely got their CO players in their sights and at the moment just watching and waiting.

Do you think they will wait five years?

Of course she's right, but again....it ain't gonna happen. Too many morons voting that have absolutely no clue regarding the issues. They're more focused on their sports and reality tv shows than to avail themselves of voting records and whatnot.

The second of the court's new dog cases asks if the police may take a drug-sniffing dog to the front porch of a home to sniff for evidence of marijuana inside. The court has always accorded special privacy protection for people's homes. In 2001, the court ruled, in an opinion written by Justice Antonin Scalia, that police officers violated a homeowner's privacy when they parked across the street from a home and, without a warrant, used a thermal imaging device to scan the outside of the house for signs of unusual heat inside that might be caused by high-intensity lighting, which is often used to grow marijuana.

wtf is trichrider on about?

point is it's always changing...the freedoms i held dear are but hollow echos ringing endlessly type of change.

good on harborside for catching a break, but don't expect a win from this...

I have no idea. I'm actually surprised there has been no real action in CO yet.

I do know that a large part of their game is not just shutting people down.. its about taking their assets.

Trichrider,
In 2001, the court ruled, in an opinion written by Justice Antonin Scalia, that police officers violated a homeowner's privacy when they parked across the street from a home and, without a warrant, used a thermal imaging device to scan the outside of the house for signs of unusual heat inside that might be caused by high-intensity lighting, which is often used to grow marijuana.

What I've never understood about any of this is how even with a warrant that any of this is even admissible. Unusual amounts of heat caused by HID lighting is not illegal. Even if they locate glowing houses it should mean absolutely nothing as HID lighting is not illegal in itself.

I should be able to have orange light blasting out of my windows, a massive heat signature, sounds of humming fans, and a bunch of Raptor boxes in the trash... and NONE of it should evidence that would warrant a raid of my home. Grow rooms are not illegal. They should have to provide evidence far beyond these things that something illegal is going on. Complete bullshit.

You know, I've been chewing on Haag's original assertion that 'the larger the operation the greater the likelihood of criminal activity' and, to me, it really seems that the opposite would be true. It seems to me that it would be far easier for many small dispensaries to, for example, launder money, or not report sales in the first place, than an outfit like Harborside. My reasoning is that *because* Harborside IS so large, they are completely new in the MMJ paradigm. And because they're so new, they're that much more likely to be closely watched, examined, and AUDITED, as they already have been.

So, it seems to me that Haag's dog don't hunt. Her reasoning doesn't wash, it doesn't make sense. They're going after who they can go after irrespective of size because they're laying a groundwork. The IRS is the wild card here, they have powers no other governmental agency has, and they seem to be playing by their own set of rules and for their own agenda, which does not seem to be tied to special interests in quite the same way.

I agree..
'the larger the operation the greater the likelihood of criminal activity'

sounds like the feds are self incriminating!!!!!
