Looking for an outdoor auto strain

Hello icm,

It's spring time down south and I want to try an auto strain outdoors. I like sativa dominant strains, was thinking of Auto AK47 by lowlife but looks like it's recommended for indoor. Has anyone grown this outdoor with success? I'm looking for an Auto strain that good for outdoors, Sativa dominant any suggestions???

I'll pitch in my 2cents for a fellow southerner.

Ive tried several differnt auto's outdoors from Dinafem, Sagmartha, Greenhouse and others. My gerneral impression overall is that they lack adequate potency and they are tedious at times to grow. Dont get me wrong, i think theyre fine and they provide northern growers with the capacity to mount a grow where otherwise they wouldnt. I wouldnt grow them again unless conditions in some way dictated it.

But 1macon, isnt every hybrid cannabis plant an "autoflower" for you? I mean, isnt your daylength below 13 hrs of light? .....Which means that any hybrid strain you plant is going to begin to flower immediately upon reaching sexual maturity, which takes about 6 wks.

In other words, if you plant Supersilverhaze, it will start to flower 5-6 weeks after it germinated because your daylength is below that required for vegative growth.

Your basically starting any strain you plant on 12/12 lighting because your daylenth is below the flowering trigger. If you start a good indica like sensi star, its going to grow for 30-45 days and then flower for 60 days.

A good indica grow will finish 90 days after you germinate.A good sativa grow will take 120 days because of the longer finish times.

I ran the AK 47 and great white shark outdoors with no problems. I am at 31 north equator. Both did well and the GWS was a big producer outside, AK not as much. Both were ok, but wasn't happy with autos. Not as strong as smoke as i am used to. I veg clones that flower quickly when set outside.

Interesting the whole point of growing auto's was to have something that that I could plant now (it's spring time here) and harvest in 8 to10 week outdoors rather then having to wait until fall for my hybrid strains to finish..

Im at 27 South it's the begining of spring and the day seems longer now.. Sun rises about 530am and sets about 6pm that gives me about 13 hours light, but summer is coming and the days will be longer I think.... how can I tell the length of daylight at my lat? Sorry i'm a newbee outdoor grow as well and new to the country...

Paradise has a few autoflowering versions of their regular strains and a jack herer autofower that looks and sounds BOMB. I might have to run some of those this summer.

Oh and if i were you i would consider starting these indoors under 24/0 lighting for at least 3 weeks..

Here's a link that tells you the daylength at your lattitude.

And keep this important number in mind. HYbrid cannabis, those containing 10% indica or more, will begin to flower at qppoximately 14.25 of daylength generally. You can test this indoors. Place plant on 14.25 hrs and most will begin to flower within 2 wks. Kick the lights up to 15 and the plant immediately begins to reveg. Back to 14.25 and the flowers return.

Secret Garden Seeds have great looking autos, and they flower under 24 hours light also, i beleive, you can have a look at their subforum.
