Anyone else using this or brew this style? I hadnt been drinking much coffee lately but wanted to start again. Now I just need a proper Burr grinder and I will be all set. I got some preground from the store to try it out and its awesome, no bitterness.

I got the Chemex Classic 8 cup. And the Chemex Filters. The first 2 "pots" i made tasted good but not as good as this third... I think I am getting the pouring down better.

I use an stove-top espresso maker. The non-aluminum type.
The Chemex are good fun to use and make great coffee!

Hot water from a tea-kettle, hand-grinder for the beans, stainless steel strainer and a paper coffee filter into a thick glass peanut-butter jar.

No bitterness here either, would love to switch to all glass like the Chemex :)

Brewing does take some time though. LOL

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

Roast my own, grind my own, brew in a vacuum brewer. I only drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day so I make a point of making a damned fine "Cup o' Joe"

those Chemex brewer's look sweet but I'd have the glass broken in a few months...I was using a stainless steel carafe but it wasn't keeping the coffee hot enough

I recently got a 4 cup Faberware Percolater that works great and keeps the coffee very hot

gotta luv those Plant Alkaloids :)

I got some "guaranteed value" decaffeinated bout ready to go on. Due to my insomnia...I have found great results by limiting myself to one caffeinated beverage per day...usually when I get up.

Cheers

I can certainly understand breaking glass. I used to brew in a Bodum-Santos vacuum brewer, but after 3 replacements I found a vintage pre WWII Sunbeam Vacuum pot. Suggestion...ditch the perc as they produce some of the worst coffee imaginable and go for one of these...

maybe you just need to taste the perc coffee after its sat hot all day Dave, lol.

I didn't even know about the vacuum pots...and they're stylish.

only about twice the price of an 8 cup perc and for something that's used everyday would be well worth it. Not to mention the price that some of the coffee shops are charging.

Thanks for sharing.

If you keep your eyes open, you can find them on eBay for a good price. I've got two Sunbeams and that's where I purchased mine. Vacuum brewing used to be the preferred method of coffee brewing prior to WWII and the advent of the drip coffeemaker. Not only do these C30s produce one of the finest cups you'll ever taste, but they are indeed "works of art". The art deco etching in the chrome on the pieces is a nice touch.

Nothing like good coffee in the morning. I use a la pavoni lever pull espresso machine on the hill. I've never used a chemex, but have poured many cups through the melita cup brewers, making those and vaping hits in the kitchen was a favorite ritual one summer.
