More efficient to have AC in lung?

My current set up is a grow room within a room, and I have a portable ac in the grow room. It has to run 24/7 in order for it to stay below 80, but then I was thinking, the reason for that is because it blows cold in, but the cold gets sucked right out by my exhaust fan, and the air coming from in the room into the grow room is warm, about 80 because Im in AZ where its 100 outside.

so wouldnt I be better off having the AC outside the grow room, but still in the room cooling it, so that the cool air is staying in the room and being used as cool intake air, and the warm air inside the grow room is constantly being vented? dont ya think that would cool better?

it would also be good because i want to set up a little veg area with a mom and clones, and I could use the cool air in the room for that intake as well.. thoughts?

How big is your AC and how many lights/equipment you have?
Sucking all the conditioned air out of your room is a bad idea.

Didnt your mom ever tell you to close the windows if youre going to run the AC or the heater? She should spank you now

I think he is exhausting cool air out with the lights heat into another room outside the grow, and intaking that warm air back into the grow.

An a/c in the lung room as well as the flower room is what works for me. The dehuey is in the lung room and the smaller a/c helps offset the heat given off before its pumped into the flower, with its larger a/c keeping it about 76 F.

Any air being vented outside will make managing temps difficult. In those 100 F temps, a sealed air conditioned setup is the way to go, whether bare bulb or aircooled (and airtight) hoods.

what? lol close the windows if your running AC? how do you get that from what I said..

Im currently running 1k in the room, but will be running 2k. Its a 10k btu portable ac, dual hose. Ive done sealed and to me its a waste especially living in a high populated area, my co2 is like 900 PPM all the time anyway.

Anyway ya Im gonna make a lung room and put the AC in there.. cool that space.

Yeah, either seal up your little room, don't run any ventilation, just a/c to cool it and add co2, or cool your big room. You might need a bigger a/c to cool the big room. If the portable doesn't cut it, look into a mini split, they are way more efficient.

Ya I know.. Im in a rental though so mini split isnt an option.. and they have horizontal windows which is the dumbest thing ever lol but ya.. had to get a portable.. ill have my own house in the spring so for now its this..

You can make a box to fit a window ac, and blow the hot air outside. There's lots of pics how to do it. I have one and it works great.

I also live in a hot part of the southern US, the temps stay in the 100's most of the summer...

I have a 4x4 flower tent with a 600w HPS in an 11x11 room and a veg room in the closet with an 8bulb T-5...

The flower tent has a exhaust fan and carbon filter, I have a 8" floor fan blowing up towards my light and the tent temps stay within 4 degrees of the room...

The only thing that worked for me to cool the room down was to add a 10k window unit... I looked at the portables and they need a way to get rid of the hot air they create and a way to bring in fresh air... Are you venting your portable ac?

Before I added the ac, my temps would go into the 90's when the hps was on...now they stay in the low 70's...

the only reason its outside the tent is because the back of these units pull in stanky air an vent it out trhough the exhaust so the filter would not do what its suppose to.

I think that AC is too small for your room and the lights you are using...I used this calculator to determine AC size, I also read in a couple places to add 2-4k btu to the estimate if using a portable AC...I don't have any experience with portables, just what I've read...

Just to update the AC in the lung is actually more inefficient. bummer.. but yeah im currently looking for a 12-15k btu window ac to replace the portable.. fuck portables.. complete waste of money never getting one again.

they can work with some ducting magic, i just figured out mine a few days ago. in the pics instead of pushing the ac air into the tent/grow room just put it in there and put the ducting on the back vent to pull clean air into the ac unit. run your intake hose out of the tent on a lower hole/duct port in ur tent/grow room and your exhaust hose run that out the tent and connect a reducer to it with ducting connected to that and out of your room ur tent/grow room is in. you can cut a hole in ur closet ceiling an run your heat exhaust into there.
