Are all tiny spiders mites?

I see these tiny but still readily visible spiders indoors. maybe 1/16 to 1/8 inch. I have seen them for months parachuting down from a fluorescent counter light in my kitchen (these are golden in color) and for the past several days parachuting down from curtains in the living room (just 2 or 3 in each case). This is all far away and a different level than any plants of any type I have growing. Are these spider mites or just tiny spiders? They like I said have no readily identifiable food source and I just have a couple houseplants, spider plants of all things and they are a good distance from the action and have no pests on them. Please, instead of asking me to take pictures which I am not comfortable doing, please post your own pics of tiny critters for comparison. thanks

I have all kinds of spiders in my house, too. Right now I have this greenish-white one with long front legs that's hanging around my trim container, on my coffee table. I've been watching it for two days now, circling the container, then disappearing for a bit.

I also have lots of baby spiders descending from trees, getting into the house, they're everywhere. Lots of stuff is making the last reproductive dash, I think. Past two nights we've been out on the back deck playing Yahtzee and this praying mantis keeps flying around. I think the lights are attracting bugs, which attract it.

Anyway, no, not all tiny spiders are mites. Many are spiderlings, or whatever a baby spider might be called. Or, just very tiny spiders.

yeah I have all kinds of spiders, I leave them alone as they keep other bugs down. I have big ones, spiderlings, and those black mini-tarantula ones. These are not spiderlings I don't think, they are not wispy like spiderlings, they are tiny but mostly a stocky body with little bitty legs. I don't want to kill them unless they are mites.

well I have had them on my head or arms but no harm done! Once in a while they bite but that's probably good for you in small doses! So do these sound like spider mites or another mite or just spiders that are tiny when fully mature?

spiders are extremely beneficial and without them, we'd be overrun by insects which they eat and help control the population of....
Personal view and yet scientifically and biologically factual as well..

What you described sounds like a spiderling hatch. They have to disperse somehow, and what they're usually programmed to do (unless we're talking cellar dweller spiders) is get to the highest point possible, in this case your kitchen fluorescent fixture, send out a 'sailing' length of silk, and fly with it.

Sometimes, when I'm just outside enjoying the day I'll notice a tree filled with silks catching the light. Usually when I investigate it's baby spiders flying off in the wind. I've noticed this year that something makes thick silk webbing ONLY on the madrones, from here all the way through Oregon. I haven't investigated those, I haven't seen them occurring on our madrones.

well I am not totally convinced what is upstairs is just spiders, but downstairs I have seen baby spiders and the only pests are those little dark things (thrips? gnats?) that stick to the sticky paper.

I have done that too, flung a dazed horsefly that was circling me and thrown it in there and watched in satisfaction as it got wrapped up in a ball, nature is great! :D

i wonder if others have the same experience i did..

back when bugs used to bug me, alot, and i went out of my way to kill them or try to.

well, back then, bugs used to bug me, alot, even going out of their way to do it.

later , as i matured and learned more about the world, i more and more just ignored insects, they are all useful in their way and living beings to boot.

even sometimes going out of my way to help insects in trouble and shit like that.

well, today, i rarely if ever, See bugs.

and anyone around, fly or mosquito, do not bug me. nor even come nearer than is comfortable. (though i did once point out to some flies that crawling on me was really uncomfortable and tickly. :))
