someone has hacked my wifi

got att high speed wifi. noticed it has been running slow. thought it was my computer. due to weekend party . i had laptop shut off and wifi card out. noticed my router busy as hell. got a sec code number but obviously it has been hacked \bypassed. how can i make it more safe/ and how can i track down the asshole. i am almost sure who it is already. same guy that moved in trimmed my tree that overhung into his yard and he toosed the trimmings in my yard.he was told then he deserved an asskicking.he has internet site and skills . help superman . any pms accepted. and if you hacker are reading this get ready for an ass kicking as my weed is legal fuck you

you need to setup a wep key. The more #.uppercase.lowercase you use the more secure it will be. I use all of them uppercase,lower case and numbers wit ha min of 10 characters .These are not easy to crack... My neighbor does not have his key installed I can log onto his network anytime I want.. Your network wont have that far of a range so its someone close to you.. In the meantime you can turn off your router..

not much help hear...had a similar problem later year....
I just ditched my router and bought a brand new super secure...
and installed a new firewall....
never had any more extra traffic after that...

hard reset your modem, go with a different channel, a new SSID and Security Key/Passphrase
start there.
you need to take control of your wifi

wep is weak

go with WPA - WPA2
much stronger

here is a idea for the Prick next door lol find out make of his vehicle place a locking gas cap on his gas tank hahahahahhaa next time he hits a gas station he is hooped as well they will have to drop tank either replace or carefully cut it off to the tune of 500.00 + he be back on the road

You could always generate a key with my password generate.

I use it all the time and store my passwords on a usb flash drive.

Yeah, do WPA2 and you can also probably set-up a MAC filter in your router if you really want security. The MAC is the unique identifier for your network interface card and once you have allowed only your MAC addresses, in theory, even if someone hacks your WPA2 password, they still will not be able to access your internet.

I miss typed. I use WPA2-PSK [AES] My router doesn't have an option for WEP(Netgear WNDR 4500). If WEP is all you have it's better then nothing. If you make it complicated I would bet it cant be hacked..

When you setup a key your network is locked out unless you know the key...


WPA is better than WEP; WPA uses the TKIP (Temporal Integrity Protocol) which changes key automatically. WPA2 is built on WPA adding an encryption algorithm named CCMP (Counter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message authentication Code Protocol) which is supposedly be really secure. All Wireless Routers built today requires WPA2 encryption support

Dam sup hate hearing all this, the tree limb thing would have done in the good neighbor thing, I used to live in a "sub-doe-vishun" never again,,, pulled a few "dick dasterly" moves on some dick headed naibs, lemme know if we need to consult on this.

I have a tree that hangs over in my yard but I clean up the trimmings and dispose of them. I try to train the tree where i cut it so it wont grow in that direction anymore. Mu rain gutters get all cloged from these dam tree's. I need to redo all my gutters with screens so this doesnt happen anymore. The gutters I have are half the size as normal gutters. This house was built in 73 thay must have been cheap owners to use these crappy gutters....
