i have a 600w hps + 400w mh, in a 2x3x5 space.

as long as the outside temps stay around 70f, im fine with a 320 cfm fan.

80f or so.

if you have high outside temps, id go with a 400w hps. or get ac. (my personal opinion.:))

Hey SSO!

Thanks for your input, it's good to know about someone with a similar situation.

The mean maximum temp won't top ~75 until december, which gives me time to test this cab with too-long of a veg phase.

The lights are running at night from now on to keep temps in check, I'd love aircon in the room as its also my workshop.. and as its a small space it'd be cheap as chips to run.

Well, I added a re-circulating PC fan at canopy level... and temps dropped from 32c to ~25c with NO other changes!

The Mazar seedling has gone into a bubble-bucket, I'm playing stuff by chance to see if I can get it to recover by sight.
Right now it looks like it's developing a magnesium deficiency (lower growth yellowed, brown spots appearing on growth?) but it's most likely a PH problem as I don't have a test kit yet.

I'm getting one for my birthday as I'm throwing 100 Perch into an aquaponic system out the back in a few weeks, until then I'm trying to get some rainwater tanks installed as I can't throw $300 on an RO filter... and distilled bottled water is stupidly expensive down-under. ($8 for 2 litres... each bucket is ~ 14l max)

I'd like this cab to end up with a 400w dimmable electronic ballast and a cool-tube for summer, I will wait until some money comes in the make that upgrade... that leaves my 600w ready for a full room vertical I have planned... luckily I just turned a tall lava lamp base into a 3ft tall lamp holder.

I've made some modifications to the cabinet, which I'll post as soon as the photo's upload:

1) Door is light sealed 100%, and is no longer on a hinge... it comes RIGHT off. (so handy for getting in there to tame the beasts later on

2) PC fan added

3) I hung the old reflector in-front of the bulb, as there's no plants at the front of the cab at the moment... I don't want an eye-full of lumens if I open during lights-on

The cabinet...

The Lock

It comes off!

The Sign On Top (cut up from a sign a had... it's hiding the vent fan until I build a cupboard ontop)

And the Mini-Fridge as it was before I had to cull them :(

I lost a fair few seeds from that cull, and they're OLD Aussie Bush genetics... friends have been breeding them for outdoors for 25+ years. It's bag seed... in that they gave me a bag of seed.

I just popped a few more of them in Hydro just in case I kill Mrs Mazar

i wouldn't worry about lower leafs on such a small plant its the new growth you need to look at chances plant is taking its stored energy to make roots then it will switch to new growth looks fine to me just take it easy on watering let medium dry out and give it only so much

Hey mate, I hope that's the case.

The media is lava rock in DWC, so I shouldn't have overwatering issues anymore:woohoo:

I'm converting the system to a custom ebb and flood built around the intake for the cooltube I plan to add... but only AFTER this grow.

It'll be an aquaponic system eventually, which makes me so damn happy!

I was like :chin: Because I never seen that before. Sprouting in lava rocks? I wonder what you are going to do when you are going to transplant them into a larger pot? The roots will get damaged I think.

Ah ... if they stay inside, I believe the net-pot it big enough to support to size plant I'll go with.
So if that's the case the chosen one will go into a different lid so there's one bucket per plant.

If I finish a ebb-flood system to go into the cabinet, I will simply transplant them into that with extra lava rock.
No need to take it OUT of the net-pot.

Not much to show, another node on the Mazar seedling and a habanero chilli plant gone into a spare hole I had.
I've just perfected a design for a flood and drain BUCKET system without the problems I've noticed others have.

If you'd like to tag along and build with me:

- one water pump
- 3 buckets
- bell siphon
- connecting fittings and tube (elbows and uni-seals will work great, clear tube is fine)
- reservoir - still trying to decide on size, has to hold ~ 40l.

I've run test of concept with recycled fittings, while it leaked like a bugger due to no finishing of the plumbing... the thing drain's damn well.

Kewl. I never did it in an ebb-flood system like you are going to. Really interesting I will learn alot of you doing it. Watching this thread closelly.

I found some pot's(bins) today, like small square buckets they are the perfect size and shape to plumb up for the ebb+flood system to be installed.

I had a look at my ailing Mazar, it's not recovered sufficiently from he transplant... turns out it needed a much smaller net-pot to get itself going, lots of brown dead roots high up and only 1 or 2 nice white ones below.... so the nutrients were available just it couldn't uptake them, hence green new growth then yellowing of the old.

I'm considering making it outdoors once I have made space in the aquaponics system out the back, I'll need to establish some tomato's to hide it behind and train her heavily.

If she hermies from the stress... free seeds.

I never noticed how much sativa was in my bag-o'seed plants (not to be confused with bagseed) so I may have an interesting scrog experience this grow if the end up being my two plants either side.

Ha... so, I'm down to just GH Flora Grow... and can't get the other pieces for a week or so

I also have the following:

Total Nitrogen 4.15
Phosphorus as water soluble 5.46
Potassium 12.00
Calcium 3.82
Magnesium 1.10
Sulphur 1.44
Iron 0.0274
Boron 0.1541
Manganese 0.3281
Zinc 0.0389
Copper 0.0339
Molybdenum 0.0167

Would a combination of the two be suitable for veg?

Got PH testing kit today... as suspected it was up around the 8+ mark.. which explains the yellowing.
I brought it down to 5.5 a day or two ago and its still sitting around there so I'm hopeful the poor plants will pull through.
