looking good ak best of luck

The Raptor is an improvement. Not sure if it is as good as the Blockbuster.

R.Fortune

hi robert i prefer the xxxl magnum over the blockbuster

blockbuster seems more suited to 4'x4' with less plants bush style

xxxl seems to have a better spread of light with less of a hot spot too better suited to 5'x5' area with higher plant numbers

i have two blockbusters and a xxxl magnum

peace

I got both raptor and xxxl magnum. I like the xxxl better cause the glass is much easier to remove and replace. Going to check light distribution as I never examined...

I thought this thread was for people who want to embellish yields? AK started from page 1 with his 30 grams on a hanger pic, calling it 4.5 ounces.

Ok. I get it. I didn't read the start of this thread. Yeah, that hanger is no way 4.5 oz. Not even close. with pretty good accuracy you will lose 75% of trimmed fresh weight. So, your right on. That's 126g x .25 = 31.5g. It was weighed wet...

So what's up the halogen refrenece lol?

Day 14 Bloom Update

Sorry for the late update - I've been pretty busy.

Unit Before:

Before Prune:

Pruned Growth Tip:

Unit After:

Data:

Lotta things happening on day 14:

Shoot Prune

Since we are experimenting with the 14 day Halide. I haven't pruned like I normally do from day 7-10. I'm going to go ahead and shoot prune these to 4. In other words I'll keep the top 4 shoots and prune the rest. I keep all quality fan leaves.

Trellis

After pruning, I put in the first level of the trellis. I used my normal trellis block and tie methods to spread the thinned canopy out to its maximum.

Bottom Blast Fan

I've put a box fan on a dolly in the middle of the unit blowing up from the middle.

Bulb Switch

I took out the 1k MH and swapped in a 1k Hortilux Super HPS.

-------

Impressions from the 14 day MH experiment:

The plants certainly didn't stretch as much. I fully expect to only add one more level to the trellis. The leaves didn't get as large, and my smaller plants in the middle didn't catch up as fast as with the HPS. I hope they will now.

My hypothesis is that the switch to HPS will put the plants in hyper flower mode with reduced stretch. You can see in the growth tip shot above that flowering has started.

We shall find out soon!

Aerokrafter,
You surely are a PRO sir! Its good to see stoners being productive and sharing knowledge. I think you did AMAZING at 3 lbs per 1k and i think it is doable. The first time i grew, i grew A nl#5xsk#1 on a 3x3 ebb n flow under a 1k bulb and yielded 1lb of buds, and i was stoked and i didnt know squat about growing!! So YES IT IS POSSIBLE!
Ak, i read this whole thread and i noticed that you would double tie the colas into two different rows? Can you please expound on the tying process/pattern that you use? Also when you pinch the branches, do you then prop the branch back up with tape to keep growing vertically or do you just let the branch stay bent horizontally? Thank you sir for the grow diary and i will be checking out all your links on your signature, ive learned a lot, thanks.

Aero - no disrespect but that set up dont look like its gonna yield 5 elbows. I'd say 2 pounds. maybe more dependin on strain, by lookin at the area. But 5 elbows is crazy. What am I missing? Most folks would be estatic to hit 2 lbs/1k. I knew a guy that was gettin 3 per 1k (w co2) and he was a effin legend. So what's the secret? Is this some strain that gives unworldy yields?

Help me hit 3 per and I'll be doin back flips!

Thanx all for the kind words.

5 lbs is the impossible dream. The idea behind the thread is to experiment and find methods to improve yield. To try and find out what happens if you did every little thing right. To maximise the growers effort and grow the grower in the process. The quest for 80 zips is one that never ends.

Along the way we all learn things and consider ideas that we can use in "normal" grows.

-SacredOutlaw

Check out the rookie grow together thread. I just finished my first level trellis on that grow. I'm explaining in detail all of my processes from clips to clipping in that thread. I think that will answer most of your questions.

Thank you for your questions and attention.

Wow, a lotta of haters and negative people on these boards...from guys with almost no posts to guys with well over 1000 posts alike.

Question your own methods and variances before you decide to talk shit about someone else's grow... that goes for the rookies and "pros" alike... I won't mention any names because some of you fuckers are just plain ignorant and ridiculous..

Aero, good show my man..very informative... with persistence and proper application 5lbs just might be achievable... just feel you'll have a much better chance vertically.

Peace

Hope you weren't alluding to my post. I'm a lover not a hater. Unless that strain is a real sleeper I unfortunatly think he'll fall short. I want him to succeed. Then I'll just follow his method and try to get the strain he's growing.

Anyway I'm intriqued by vertical grows. No one out here's really doing it, yet. Can you direct me to some good thread(s) on the style. Sounds like you know a bit about it.

Thanks!

No, my post was not directed at you at all MedicalMJ... look in the vert section..lots to learn in there...

I've grown many years horizontally, loved it and still veg hori, but flower vert... more flowering space means more finished product.... still working out my kinks with stretch and poroperly filling in the trellis, but i'm getting there...

I think when it comes to vertical growing your hearing allot of myths in yields most commercial grow op's will run some vert lights again they place them according to shaded places when you think about it for a second you place a 1000 watt light with out reflector it loses it lumens and radiant heat faster as it goes out in all directions so in reality having a plant lets say 2 feet from that vert bulb your not getting the lumens that you think you are
Now with a reflector your getting direct from both sides of the bulb reflecting full power to the plants many will say well i get my plants closer , then i say there is no need a 24 " i am giving my plants full luminious that that 1000 watt will put out , yea you see in vert stretchy plants tied up so they won't fall over stems week etc
So pretty much saying what ever works for you go for it Right

Don't worry about the haters aero, some people just can't read between the lines. Had the same problem in my redemption thread when I stated my goal at 3lbs per 600. It was meant to be a joke of sorts to get people thinking, but most took it literally. I've already done 2.5 per twice in my career though, so I do believe it's possible if everything is in line. Also saw and helped harvest a faux aero system that hit just shy of 4lbs off a single horizontal 1000 on a light mover. This leads me to believe the right grower could hit 5lbs in a vert system with a light mover, provided all the necessary factors are in place. Ah the quest for the impossible dream......

Drfever - Go study the quantum physics of light, then design a vert room around those principals, then show me the weak stems and lacking growth in a vert system, you won't see it. Or you can save yourself the time and check out my redemption thread. Vertical lighting is so much more efficent use of light than a reflector, but each to his own. Do whatever works best for you in your situation.

here is a perfect example of a vertical grow week 5 Flower and my girls horizontal and in week 5 flower again the person in vid has a few plants my pic has 2 plants

[YOUTUBEIF]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ullLtN7uw0U[/YOUTUBEIF]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ullLtN7uw0U

Now if your going to grow for personal stuff i am sure you will get little more yield going vert including all the lower little bud sites etc , but if your growing to produce size, quality you know for the guy coming over with 20,000 in his pocket who wants to see nice sized buds and all looking more or less the same ???

Dr - I see the arguement you are making, but your are comparing two different grow styles (horizontal sog vs vert tree). If you look at a vert sog (like me, bobblehead, and others are doing) vs a horizontal sog. Vert wins everytime, all other factors aside from light position being equal. Including all buds being dense chunky tops.

Also the grow in the video is a terrible design. Massive amounts of light being wasted.

:yeahthats

I've seen a lot of donuts, and that might be the lousiest. Worse'n mine, even.

Edit: Oh sh*t, just realized I was posting in this thread.

This whole conversation, here of all places, seems unreasonable. :)

As long as you guys are finding it productive - I don't mind. I think vert has the easiest and most likely road to 5 lbs.

One of the goals of this thread was for others to pick up the torch and try to pull this off. I'd love to see many different attempts using different methods. I'd want them to share as much detail and data as possible, share failures along with successes. I'd absolutely love it if they would lead others in an attempt to replicate their results - ala the rookie aeroflo grow together thread.

I came here first to learn. I'm just trying by example to point out how much we can accomplish together, despite the haters. I'm willing and have shared a ton of information that took a good deal of effort to accumulate and communicate.

I'm looking for like minded individuals to do simular things. Not because I want to compete with them, but rather to learn.

Haters will hate. Middle east is on fire from the same neural pathways in the brain that trolls use.

All I can do is hoe my row.

Sorry, didn't mean to make this sound like a rant. My asbestos underwear chafes from time to time.
