Ok, I purchased some super skunk seeds from sensi seeds. From all my reading prior, and experience, I was expecting a stinky ass skunky plant, with big fat leaves, and big fat buds.it Is supposed to be the image of indicas. This is not what I have.
My plants are bushy, but I always grow them like that. However from the beginning, the leaves have been real slender and pointy. Was told from someone on the breeders website that it was super skunk, I tried to believe them.
But now the plants are in full flowering. They have little smell, more like a dirty shoe smell. I have one that is weeks behind everything, looking sort of like a haze or something. The buds are long and thinner rather than short and thick as Iv come to expect from indicas.
What am I supposed to think? Be happy the plants are big and healthy, or be disappointed in knowing that I was possibly duped?
Is this really super skunk and I'm just confused? This isn't my first rodeo, been doing this 10 yrs but normally grow from clones.

Skunk is usually more Sativa looking. That is what I have noticed in the past, although some pheno's will lean more toward the Indica side. It could be just that you got unlucky as every seed pop is original, although I would think by this time you would have some skunk smell. Are the buds forming slowly or are they building mass quickly?

My other indicas are forming faster. Most look about 3 weeks out, one looks more like, 5 weeks out.
The smell is what has me baffled. I was reading that I was to expect a strong smell. And that is not the case.

i wish i knew what was up with sensi seeds these days.
i have had some poor results with three of their top strains, jack herer, nl5 haze, and mr nice.

i did get one ok jack out of two packs,
but i have an nl5 haze that smells just like the mr nice.
its just like you describe, sort of a funky armpit/ stinky shoe smell. not very strong.

i know my seeds travelled through many scanners in several countries before they made it to me, i wonder if this is what is causing the bad results from their seeds?
one could only hope

Island Sweet Skunk is a really nice example of how the non roadkill skunks usually smell these days, nice sativa high, too.

Most of the skunks from Holland and modern varieties came from what Sam Skunkman selected at that time, sweet and potent skunks and rejecting most of those acrid and so called roadkill ones.... and obvioulsy were taken to Europe in the 80s, so is the basic background of 80% modern strains though.

Island Sweet Skunk I think its WW X Sweet Skunk... but also quite mixed lineage in the Sweet Skunk I guess.

The real skunkyness comes from the afgans and if you are looking for a really skunk plant with fat buds and indica effect, I'd rather go with Afgan1, Maple Leaf, Mazar or something like that. The original skunk was a mostly sativa plant, then crossed to an indica, we had the super skunk family (big bid, critical mass, etc...), but still with a nice influence of a sativa on it.

Mustahfunk has it right. The problem is that skunky skunk smell is hard to find these days. Sam bred it out. Better try for something with actual Afghani genetics.

roadkill skunk was bred out cause too many people were getting busted cause the smell was so strong.!

I know what you mean by the dirty shoe smell from the skunks. I personally don't like it but you could also find some variation on that odor that is much more to my taste. I enjoy the sweet almost piney skunks. You may also find that after a cure that the skunk becomes very penetrating. I had one that didn't really smell at all while growing but I noticed it was getting pretty intense during the dry and then after a cure it was a skunk that could be smelled a block away. People only want a kush nowadays but a great skunk will always have a place in my heart.

sadly Sensi an't what it used to be, i dont think ive read a good report in the last 5 or so years :(
the old sensi super skunk i remember was a chunky budded stinker. back in 00-02ish , tbh ive not smoked or seen a PROPER stinking skunk of any kind for some time other than cheese, but thats a different kind of funk

I don't ever remember a dirty shoe smell from the old Skunks, I remember a skunk piss smell that was overwhelming and penetrating, but not the dirty shoe smell. It is strange because I have heard this before from others. I wonder if I am missing something? Could be very possible, but I have smelled Afghanni that had a garlic shoe smell. May be a skunk crossed with Afghanni was going around also? Just curious about this dirty shoe smell being related to the old school skunk strain. I have heard it one too many times to dismiss it. Any input?

all the modern skunks are more sativa these days. i second those ppl saying get a mazar / afghani strain if you looking for that.

The Flying Dutchmen is the place to go for the best skunk experience imo. Both their skunk #1 and Power Skunk that I recently saw at a friends had either a strong sweeter smell or old school roadkill smell.

Yeah if you want to get the pure or the original Sam's Skunk you can still get it in Seedsman seedbank... they are selling the Cultivators Choice line... like ORiginal Skunk, California Skunk Haze, Big Afgan Skunk (this has to be the skunky one), Hindu Kush x Skunk, Sleestack X Skunk and Wonder Woman... forget about Flying Dutchmen as now is owned by Sensi as the other guy said!
