Dr.D, Thank You Very much for this usefull thread i have been reading for a little over a year now, due to this setup being my first ever grow. My Strain is O.g Kush water temp in my 5 gallon bucket is at 70*F. P.h 5.8 and Advanced Nutrients Jungle Juice 2.5Ml Micro, 2.5 Ml Grow, 2.5 Ml Bloom, and 5 Ml Liquid Karma. I'm going to make a trip to the hydro store and get some HydroRush to see how that stuff works out... i will keep you up to date with photos thru out the grow...
P.s The pic's are 1 week after putting in D.W.C bucket.

My bad bro, i forgot about this thread due to lack of replies... here are some updates they look a lot better now being only 8 days older than previous pic's.... as i was typing this REPLY a "FUNGUS GNAT" A.K.A "The Black Fly landed on my homemade net pot cover being a normal blank sheet of white paper, how do i get rid of these.? They have already killed one plant in soil due to gnat larvae

I don't think you have to worry about them in the dwc buckets, only soil. They lay their eggs in the soil and you may be able to see larvae when you water, jumping around on the top of the water. You can get rid of them by covering the top 2 inches or so with fine sand.

obsstar, thanks for the reply i think i finally got rid of them, all i did was sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the soil and watered, the cinnamon is supposed to kill larvae and not harm plant, or roots. its been 4 days now and so far so good

just put plants into bloom room 3 days ago and now leaves are starting to curl and twist seems to happen every time i put plants into bloom first ten days or so leaves curl but then seem to snap out of it can anyone tell me why this happens

So I really want to try DWC for my first run. I hope to have six buckets (possibly DIY so they can be 10 gal instead of 5). Has anyone done this with rubbermaid containers instead of 3.5 and 5 gallon buckets? Also how much more does it cost for nutes than with soil? Cost is a major obstical for me.

I have my own version of this.

I use 1G Air Pot + lava rock. My air pump is 45L/m with 4 head manifold. If I am not cloning I use all 4 large oxystone cylinders in the bucket.

Instead of using a 'lidded bucket, I am using a wide mouth cleaning bucket that tapers to a smaller footprint. 4 air stones on the bottom, then a plastic grate whch supports the AP/plant. I only keep nutes ~ 3" above the bottom of the AP. However, I supplement feed ~ every hour, by hand, from the top using a meat baster.

Of course a lp pump hooked to a timer would be better for anyone who does not work from home. Next time I use this set up, I have 6" net pot built into a lid designed for 5G buckets

Dr. I have a 36x36in tent and was wondering if I scrog how would I go about it? And how many 5gal buckets should I use because I believe I can fit 9 but dont know if that is overkill? Just trying to get the most buds out of my space with 1000w hps. I was going to go through the trouble of building and aeroflo setup but after seeing this thread def gonna save myself the headache.
