fusarium wilt?

Alright folks, Ive got a branch that is all wilted out in my greenhouse, the rest of the plant is fine. I have no experience with fusarium wilt but I've read about it and that is what popped into my head...Ive had other braches look like this, but it was because there was mulch on top of the connection to the stalk...and I think the microbes started to break it down and eat it?? anyways, as always, any and all help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Don't know too much about the F-wilt, thankfully, but have you removed the mulch to get a look at roots and/or stalk?

Inspect the xylem. If it's been girdled or broken through that will also happen.

Are you sure that it isn't just broken? I've seen those lower branches die like that. If you grab it and twist it it will probably break right off. If it was fusarium it's pretty likely that the whole plant would look like that. That branch is done, so if it doesn't break right off, cut it off cleanly at the trunk. Then take your clippers, and cut through the removed branch a couple inches up and look at the cut. Is the pithy center brown? If so, you've got fusarium or pythium. If not, you're probably OK. But just to make sure, don't overwater! You also probably shouldn't have all that mulch. Ganja doesn't need it. The top roots like to dry out a bit to give the plant more oxygen. Good luck!!

ok...thanks guys...I held off on watering today.....and I just added more mulch yesterday..the old stuff was broken down and pretty much flat...should I remove it? or just pull it away from the center stalk and leave it deeper around the sides?? I will go out and remove then inspect the branch in questions conductive tissue, and update with what I find.

I would cut it as cleanly as possible using a clean tool to make the cut. It doesn't look as though it's coming back and if disease *isn't* already present, then that branch can become an entry point for disease.

^do this^ sucks to lose such a big potential bud, but def looks like the branch has been "broke" so to speak. I've leaned over my plants (adusting lights etc)and crunched em and that's what it looks like.

One Q: Is the branch going to the main stalk covered w mulch?

Yeah, deifintely make a clean cut if it's not too late. I personally would remove the mulch, but that's just my opinion. I've never mulched outdoor plants though, so it's not like I've tried it and had bad results. In fact I've never even seen a mulched weed plant before yours (I've seen a lot of outdoor plants), so maybe it's fine.

Could be but doubtful. Have your roots been staying damp and cool? Would expect to see all bottom growth affected rather than just one branch.

outdoor molds Ive fought and lost to

#1white spot mold- splattered looking white spots on leaves, spreads from one leaf to others very quickly. Whole branches wilted within a week. (none this year)

#2grey mold- looks like what happens to food left in the fridge. usually starts with one fan leaf in a big budded up spear branch. fan leaf goes limp, and the connecting stem turns brown and rots while plant appears healthy. Mold spreads into the bud and the bud gets brown and then mushy. Mold will spread within the bud quickly. tiny spots will spread to entire colas during drying even if effected tissue is removed and other precautions taken. (have had this this year already)

either of these will wipe out entire plants/gardens if whole plant not removed immediately after infection noticed. Only hope is that a certain strain is resistant. ie all your WW is dead next to healthy TW plants

#3- spotted leaf disease. Looks like your leaf has been shot by a shotgun. Small holes in a small cluster. Plant will grow fine with this, but can wipe out plant when budding and conditions develop. (some signs of this this year)

upon further inspection I think they may have just gotten bumped during watering....they were barely connected to the main stalk, and when I peeled open the removed branches there were no signs of damaged or sick conductive tissue. thanks for all the input folks.
