Hopefully some experienced guerrillas can help with this.. at first i thought it was stalk borer worm but theres no holes anywhere in the stalks and i dont have branches dying either, the plants are healthy and strong but when i grab a branch or the top to smell, it broke off and u could tell that it looked like it was dying on the inside of the stalk where it broke? ive been doin this a long time and havent seen anything like it before hopefully someone has experienced this and can tell me what im dealing with?

Insufficient light and incorrect watering are the most common causes of weak stems in plants.

Caterpillars will do this.. go to pull a big cola over your head down to check it out and then it breaks all up like it dried. They blend in and like to hide deep in our buds look for black specks around the areas on your bud (caterpillar poop)

thanks for trying to help everybody..Will catapillars rot the stalk below the bud? i did have a couple this year..

you know i dont think ive ever had a problem with squirrels, but it's possible and looking at the plants they look fine.

I also read of fusiarin rot? (spelling) what does this look like? and does it happen towards the tops?

That makes sense that their moist excrement can lead to rot. My first season was devastated by cats and my 2nd was still affected as I was naive. Using a regime of spinosad spray and no more cats.
