I received an email from Shantibaba today. It said that the Mr. Nice site would be shutting down permanently. Does anyone have any additional information on this?

Because according to Shanti's email the closing has to do with security breaches on the site.

According to Jesse (Mr. Nice Senior Moderator) the emails DID NOT come from Shantibaba. They were sent by someone pretending to be Shanti... obviously a forger or hacker of some sort. The only problem is that I never gave the email address I use for Mr. Nice to anyone else. Whoever sent the fake emails claiming to be from "Shantibaba" apparently has access to the Mr. Nice email database. I, too, received one of them emails. Just when I thought all of this nonsense was history.
yikes, that'd be a shame, hope it was a hacker or some such nonsense.

I was curious so went over and took a look. There was a post from Shanti about all the problems.

probably gathered the 8 email addresses from easy access sources, there are other sites many are registered from with less security and considering we have over 9000 members and only a handful got this letter shows he is trying to make a mountain from a mole hill!
Nevertheless we are alert at all times and take it all seriously with some great people working to solve these issues as they arise. I spoke to Gypsy(icmag) and Tom(seedsman) and they both explained their issues and a need for consistent vigilance...so we are not unique with these useless issues of disturbance.
So once again sorry for the inconvenience, but please pm immediately if you see any thing strange or stupid so members do not panic and think worse case scenarios when it is not so.

The Mr. Nice official site is having more problems. The forums are down again among other issues.
