hey y'all.

warthog is right, it's about time for an update!

so incase you missed it, i had my plants perfectly timed for a july 4 transplant to the outdoors. I was shooting for 3' to 4.5' tall and bushy. here's what they looked like that day:

then my friend/outdoor partner flaked on me, on the day i planned to transplant, AFTER i transported all the babies to his house.

yada yada yada, nothing else panned out, and then 4 weeks later my friend has a change of heart and says "yea let's do it after all."

lucky for me i had topped the babies after the initial flake out to buy me some time (thanks VG :tiphat: ). that and a couple inches of EWC helped them survive the tight confines until the beginning of august.

i put the babies out on the second of august i think. then i left town for two weeks. here's what they looked like when i finished the transplanting:

okay so i went over yesterday to check on the babies and they look pretty happy overall.

everyone has grown pretty well considering all the stress they have endured. here's what they looked like yesterday, about 3 weeks since they were transplanted:

some containers are still suffering from spots of hydrophobia, but i plan to use fresh aloe vera to rectify the situation.

i brought four containers home and watered them thoroughly with a healthy dose of aloe goop, maybe 2 or 3 TBS per gallon of water. they revived quickly, and we were planting kale and chard seedlings in them before the hour was out. today the seedlings are happy and healthy, new growth already showing. the soil retained moisture well, but we'll give it another watering w/ aloe in the next day or two to be safe.

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

i can't even read the name tags in some of the photos! d'oh!

i promise to get better pics next time.

anyway, here goes the pic dump. we'll start with the babies. they were germinated the second or third week of july (with my heart full of faith), so they're quite a bit behind the others.

Ak 47 came from Joey weed (serious seed)about 5 or 6 years ago

G-13 came from Attitude Seeds as a freebe. They said G-13F on the bag with 3 seeds. All 3 grew to 3 different phenotyps. the B smells like blue berrys:biggrin:. here is a pick of the a, smells piney and nutty, will knock you out in 4 -5 hits!!!

update on the veggie containers i tested the aloe on:

HUGE SUCCESS!

yesterday was wickedly dry (31% RH), and the four #10s i tested the aloe vera drench on look moist and healthy this morning even before their watering!

gotta get back over to my friend's place ASAP with a big bag of aloe fillets :joint:

hmm this has got me thinking abt other spa treatments that could be applied to canna growing to get the "dank dumb" as coot would call it. that kushiekushkush.

avocado masques?

crystal bowl chakra openers?

submerging plants in water containing little fish that delicately nibble mites off the undersides of the leaves?

think of the possibilities!
