Any Smart Ideas?

This is a security question but I'm posting it here because this forum has a post count that tends to be higher in critical thinking.

I've been shut down for a while but dipping my feet again. Like a lot of you I switched to vert 8 years ago partly due to lower juice pull for more yields. We switched over to smart meters the other day. I'd like to hear from anyone who runs your show with one of these damn things.

I'm in a three story house/three bedroom and have run 4k here before not counting fans and pumps. Searching threads rarely yields definition does it? Who does flip flop with a UPS? Does anyone use random time cycles with intervals of flourescents? Propane generators have even started looking good (almost).

Our local podunk topix forums have discussions about these meters but there won't be any public protests; this ain't Santa Cruz.

You ever notice that there aren't too many people who break ranks and come on the canna boards? I'm talking aerial plant spotters, electric company employees, and task force guys. I think mostly we get some massive disinformation.

HGO, if you need to move this, could you give it a day or so to be seen first? Thanks.

I'm a little confused? Exactly what is your question? I live in Santa Cruz ..run 3200 KW and have a Smart Meter.

That's funny that you're in Santa Cruz. In researching smart meters, I saw where there were large protests in Santa Cruz against them. How long have you had one installed? Do you worry about 12 hour consistent cycles, or any length you're using for veg that is consistent? I see where some people claim that flipping the load over two different 12 hour periods per day accomplishes little because the spike comes from the bulbs firing more so than the ballast. Others say that using an uninterrupted power supply masks that spike.

Long before smart meters I ran flower fliprooms 24/7 12/12 off and on to prevent power surges or any different amperage draw to show suspicion of dope growin........

My pre-veg cabs ran 18-6 but the clones were under 24 hr low fluorescent shoplights .........so.....

Keep your amperage draw constant with no powerspikes and fluctuations so there`ll be no reason for you to be investigated......

Of course this means runnin perpetual bloom rooms that I preach anyways but yas could be worse off by doin less.....

Things to ponder....DHF...:ying:......

In the thread on smart mters that Strainhunter posted, he and Rives caution folks against assuming that relays won't show a pattern of 12 hour spikes because the spike occurs when the lamp itself ignites. He also goes on to say that total kw usage and spreading use across 24 hours is probably more important than the spikes thelmselves. There are a lot of spikes of diferent amperages in a house per day. The problem might be if they look for a pattern of consistent day in and day out spikes associated with the amp draw of grow lights. Do you know if a UPS would fix that possible breach? Thanks
