I`m hoping your pup comes home safely Joe .
It`s a sad case in life when those people that really love their animals get crippled with high bills for veterinary care .
Is not pet insurance a viable option ? I`m not sure what the situation is in the States but here in the UK it`s pretty common . Daft thing is it costs as much for my dog insurance per month as the monthly premium on my van insurance , but i do love my dog .

There is no treatment specifically for the Parvovirus at this time. Treatment is supportive care, which includes any or all of the following:
Oral electrolyte fluids - if the case is mild and the animal isn't vomiting
Subcutaneous (SQ) or intravenous (IV) fluids to maintain hydration in the face of the extreme fluid losses from vomiting and diarrhea that are so typical with this disease
Anti-vomiting/nausea medications - to prevent further damage from vomiting and to keep the patient comfortable as possible.
Antibiotics - because the virus has potential to slough the intestinal tract, antibiotics help protect against secondary infection.
Blood or Plasma transfusions - to replace protein loss, provide antibodies, help with anemia.
Many puppies infected with Parvovirus need to be hospitalized for supportive care. Hospitalization is typically about 5 days, sometimes longer. Surviving the first three days is usually a good sign for long term survival."

Joe Fresh funny that you mentioned Canadian Healthcare, because that's the answer which proves my point. You think that Canadian healthcare is free? Nobody has to pay for it? The MRI machines and EKGs are parachuted in on pallets from mysterious black helicopters for free, and nobody has a clue who is responsible or why? Consider MMS in SMALL doses (1-2 drops) You can mix some and keep it in the frig. If needed (it has a slight bitter taste) put it an eye dropper and squirt into dog's mouth.

in 96 i was in florida with my family...my mom contracted a pnumonia, she spent a week at the hospital...then we left and came home because she was still sick and it seemed as if the docs there werent doing much to get her better...back to canada and we get a bill in the mail for 32000$....needles to say she was sick and hospitalized here in canada for another 2 weeks for free....
i hear so many bad stries about the healthcare in the states that i dont even know where to begin...this is surely one reason i am glad i live in canada....another reason is the judicial system....much less harsh and severe than in the states

ya man...thread was closed but i guess it got reopened...
he is back at home and doing much better, almost 100% but he still requires alot of sleep and still wont eat dog food, but he will eat meat and treats so i know he will be fine...
the vets said that this year they had an unusually large number of parvo cases and that they even had a number of adult dogs come in with it, they said that they think the strain is evolving or its a whole new strain altogether

Joe, I'm so glad to read this. Like I posted below, I've seen a lot of dogs contract and die from Parvo, mostly puppies who were too young to get the vaccination, but I've also seen dumped dogs develop and die from the illness. It's HORRIBLE, excruciating, and painful. The last dog I saw with it had to be euthanized, he was quite advanced.
I've seen more dogs die from Parvovirus than I care to recount, and I have to agree with this statement.

i went through it with my last dog. 1200$$$$ and alot of force feeding food and water with a big syringe without needle. he got it as pup and had never left house except for a backyard poo training. that 65 $ humane society pup got expensive as a purebred LOL
