well, one of my dogs had been feeling really sick the last few days, upon reading i read that he could have either had parvovirus or something he ate blocking his intestines, but tonight when i seen a whole lotta blood in his stool, i rushed him to the 24hr emergancy animal hospital...they got a lab on site and tested him right there.....positive for parvo....

funny thing is, i just took him to a different vet last week to get his shots....and im 100% sure thats where he caught it because other than my other dog he has no contact with any other dogs or their feces

anyways...ii took him tonight to the 24 hr one, and he is staying there till he gets better i dont care if it costs me everything i own...

Miria got it as a pup and I walked into 6 lanes of traffic when I got the word. Not sure why I lived. Did not want to

Good luck

that sucks! my dog caught parvo before she hit 1 year. she was dieing on me. rushed her to the vet and she stayed almost 2 weeks. didnt cost much because a family member was working there. she survived and lived 6 more years before she died.

hey joe, I'm sure your vet would allow you to visit w/your pal during office hours. When Kayla (passed last yr) was in for her cancer surgery I drove the 75 miles round trip each of the 5 days they kept her after. I don't know how much it helped Kayla but it did put my heart at rest to spend some time with her.......

At least they got their shots before this happened. I had a puppy and we ordered a carpet cleaning service.. Turns out they don't sanitize the equipment, needless to say the last patrons of the carpet cleaners just had a dog with parvo. My dog wasn't old Enough for the ago and treatment, we had to put her down, it sucked horribly. you seem like a caring individual and care about your dog, good luck with everything man.

Yes I would switch vets as well. Emergency vet visits cost insane amounts.

Hope your dog makes it and everything turns out good.

Just like medicine for humans...the costs are so high.Good luck as I would do anything as a pet owner and have,,,had a cat w/cardiomyopathy and sent him to Cornell university.Only place on east coast that made medicine for him..owed 5000$ on vet bill and they forgave it due to my diligence and love for the animal...Good luck-BigD

actually no, here human hospitals dont cost you a dime....before my dad died, he had multiple arterys changed out including his aorta(big vein in the stomache) and his jugulars all for plastic tubing because they were too blocked....then he got cancer and got all the treatments for 2 years, but it was generalized cancer and he died(bone cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer...ect)

.....all this care for my dad was 100% free....the only thing that costs us here is an ambulance is 150$ and we pay 10-30% of the total cost of our prescriptions....the rest is free....and on top of that you CAN buy additional coverage, but i see no need for it...

Fingers crossed hoping for the best for the 2 of you. Parvo is no bueno sorry to hear bout anyones dog getting that nastyness.....

Sorry to hear about this. Im positive your buddy will pull through.
All of my dogs shots were given by me. I just buy them from the local feed store. Parvo for dogs is terrible. One of my pups had Parvo but after she got her shot she was fine.
Dogs are great companions but its very heart breaking when they pass or become ill. When my last dog passed I swore to never have anoher dog again. The emotional pain was too much and I didnt want to go through with that again. But 3 years later I reunited with man best friend. Its best to love than to of never of loved at all.
