OG specific fertilizer recipe-Fact or Fiction?

I was reading articles the other day, can't remember where, cause Im a stoner, lol. But these article's were from swerve. The point he was making was that OG needs a specifically tailored nutrient program for any real success. He suggested feeding GH Micro and Cal Mag only for veg.
Has anyone done this? Does OG really need that much cal mag?
I do realize he is using DWC and his recipe works for him in his room.
Here is a quote about his bare bones recipe

i pretty much use micro and calmag and hygrozyme the entire time in veg.. then when im about to flip the switch i add in some bloom. when i flip i reduce the micro a little adn keep the calmag up and the hygrozyme and the bloom...i use calmag all the way til i flush same with hygrozyme

imvho and experience the lucas formula is ok but youa re starving your plants im sure on some plants ok it works but on plants like the cali kushes and the chems these babies are pigs they like to eat so they need more N not more P...you want them to grow dont ya... just my .02 and trial and error

"in veg i go like this.. 2 parts calmag 1 part micro. then i add hygrozyme but im in rdwc buckets... later aprt of veg i go 2 calmag 1 micro 1 bloom. into bloom i go 2 bloom 1 calmag 1 micro. once i get to about week 6 i cut out the micro and keep the calamg until i end...and increase bloom and add liquid koolbloom about week 4 and powder koolbloom from week 6 til flush i slowly increase the powder koolbloom from small amount to a grip.. lol "

"Flower is 2 parts bloom 1 part calmag 1 part micro
veg there is no bloom" ...quoted by Swerve

Is this true about the OG's? Do they need to be fed a certain way?
I finally have a legitimate cutting from a legit grower:thank you:
and I'm looking for any angle or tidbit of info on how to max out my Og mamas. Im willing to try it on a cutting or 2 , but I'm curious if anyone has any experience on this matter before I do?

I am gonna be using Coco as my medium, not DWC. I have read everything I can on ICmag I could find about OG, but this stuck out as the most different and odd way of growing this strain.

Some of the OG's are really hungry for Ca, but its more about the ratio of Ca to Mg. It behaves like a normal plant though, and in coco we have success with Floranova Bloom from start to finish with a little Micro in the first two to three weeks and through flip, slowly drop the Micro and add Ca and Mg if needed. Test a few and that is the only way to know what works in your spot with your style. She is kind of sensitive to quick release N ferts and really high ppm/ec but feeding mid-strength often will treat you well for sure. Good luck and check out Yosemite Sam, and Sea Maiden's info on Ca. in the Nutes and Ferts Forum.NS

First time i ever heard of micro only.my guess is thats why so much calmag since there no mag in the micro. He could also be using an ro system that would also call for extra cal mag.
Diffrent strains take nutes in diffrent ways some heavy feeders some light.I think it would be unfair to say just 1 strain needs a special regiment .Dwc is easy to figure out due to the fact if you keep a record of your ph and ec you'll know if your to rich or lean that way you can adjust.
Depending on your growing style I think h3ad's formula ,Lucas ,or rez dogs recipe would be a better choice..Everytime ive tried to use hygrozyme in DWC its ended in the dreaded root rot.I would advise against it .I dont know about soil or coco though.

Absolute typical broscience fiction, and there's a reason you hear it in conjunction with hyped names like OG. "Keep It Simple Stupid" is the name of the game.

First of all, if you ever saw pics of Swerves garden/plants, you'd know he isn't someone you want to take grow advice from.

When growing OG in soil or hydroton, I feed the same as any other strain.

I recently switched to coco, and was feeding my standard veg nutes and tap water, with an additional 5ml calmag. They weren't happy at all. I upped the calmag (Techniflora MagiCal) to 10 ml, and they greened right up and were healthy as can be in about a week. Once they were healthy I backed it down to 7.5ml per gal.

Absolutely on the Epsom salt with og, though if your organic, it technically isn't organic, although it ammends extremely well and cheap. Blackstrap molasses is also an excellent source of magnesium among many other things. I feed my girls blackstrap with every watering and they love it. What is a good organic calcium supplement you all recommend. My OG's and ECSD eat the hell out of calmag in the soil...that and they really seem to use up there nitrogen very quickly.

it technically isn't organic

Mined mineral compounds cannot, by definition, be organic or not - what they can be and are is 'approved for organic food production'

You've probably never even grown an OG. But you love to talk bad about them all the time. I guarantee; if I offered you a legit cut you'd probably take it and you would most likely like it.

Swerve is a sped but OG is absolutely an MG hog. I've got different 2 cuts of OG and they both love MG, if they don't have it on a regular basis the start yellowing up.

OG's ARE a little more difficult to grow them other strains, they are tough to root and have slightly different appetites then other varieties.

How do you know your OG's are not suffering a lockout caused by K, NA, or CA?

I never grew an OG anything, but I know that using a diverse organic mix and feeding botanical teas I grew some outstanding plants that bad reps for being picky. And this is without any dolomite lime in the mix at all, go figure. Plus I know when I dropped dolomite lime a lot of the problems you described, stopped happening. I doubt it was co-incidence.......scrappy

Balance is the key to feeding all strains...nothing more of anything is needed if its all in perfect harmony...like spurrs Mix..

OG's can be really annoying because if you make a mistake or something in in your enviroment takes a shit...she doesnt do well in those conditions..mininum room for error...once you get her a lil stressed she turns on you...she wont be anything near what she can be when everything is on point.... Stems are pretty damn weak...and if your mom isn't 100% healthy... cloning can take longer...

If the goal is to have a soluble form of Magnesium like Epsom Salts (along with Sulfur), then why wouldn't one use a 'mined mineral compound' that contains soluble forms of Magnesium, Sulfur and Potassium?

About the same price per lb.

hey bro
there is no magic formula for growing og right
if you can grow ie you can grow killer pot, then you shouldnt have an issue.
f you can take a turd and put it in a tuxedo, then you can rock og.
if you have a turd and only can fit a tank top and some zumbas on it, then you'll have a hard time with the getting the og done right.

youll get it the learning curve isnt that steep.
