I used botanicare for my first grow since the hydro shop pushed it.I used grow ripe calmag aquashield and liquid karma. i was thinking of adding silica blast and the sweet. any thoughts or ideas, any cheaper alternatives for the addatives and/or any additional additives. I grew platinum bubba last round this round i have super lemon haze, jack herer, a chem dog og gdp cross, and a ghost og

Go w pbp & calmag, but get yourself a real silica, like pro-tekt. Silica blast is about half the value, if that. You dont really even need Sweet or Karma

I prefer Pure Blend Pro Grow over CNS 17 grow cause the consistency.. the CNS is too thick and sandy.. the pure blend is like tea.. mixes in instantly.

+1 on Dynagro Pro-tekt Silica, best bang for your buck @ 10% vs others ~5%...

The CNS is quite thick out of the bottle and requires an extra mixing step. I think when you say sandy youre referring to once its diluted and mixed though.
Ive had a couple bad bottles of CNS that would form chunks, some little pellets and some sand like flakes. All those bottles came from the same store. A bottle that hasnt gone bad mixes as clear as water(with some bubbles at the top)
If I end up with a bad bottle from another shop I will probably switch nutes to Dynagro. Ive used CNS17 for 2 grows now without calmag. Its quite a bit cheaper than pbp + calmag.

Botanicare is hell in hydro. I've run it in flood tables and in ebb/flow bucket systems. It does fine, but could not be worse to clean up after. The liquid karma especially, stains everything brown and settles out in the bottom of reservoirs.

If you are using a mag drive pump the iron gets pulled out instantly and settles on everything.

As far as Botanicare in soil, its nice and I agree with the PBP series over the CNS-17. The consistancy of the CNS is just awful, commercial growing my ass. I ran PBP grow/bloom, calmag and liquid karma with great success in soil pots. Toss a little koolbloom in and poof, ez pz.

If you are lookin for a serious, consistant and easy cleap up hydro nutrient line, you cannot go wrong with GH 3 part, or even the maxi series. Its liquid money with little to no clean up.

My 2 cents

Just add one product to your grow at a time. If you are doing good do things the same as last time and add on new product. I also second using Pro-Tekt for silica. For some reason Botanicare uses Sodium Silicate in there stuff. Sodium is bad.

Pure blend pro is good. Liquid karma is good as a foliar. But buying liquid kelp is wayy cheaper and has all of the same benefits except for the humic acids.

dynagrows protekt silica is a lot more concentrated and almost the same price.

yeah i hate cleaning my hydro setup. i can't go mre than 3 weeks without tearing every thing apart and scrubbing everything and that takes about 4 hours. Ihave over half a gallon of the cns 17 i will use it this time because i have it but am thinking about gh or advanced after this round. The shop i go to pushes botanicare hard.

Pure Blend Pro grow and bloom are great and very easy to use. Cal-mag and Hydroplex are also wonderful.

I ran Pure blend pro in soil vs sensi vs Heavy16 and Dutch master and Pure blend came in last the plants where way less stacked and less resin then all the others, Dunno maybe I had a bad batch but thats never happened before I go through 55 gallons of base nutes every 6 months I was always told it was a good base but I did not like it.

Is it possible that you had too much going on at one time and werent able to fine tune the PBP line to suit your setup?

you should try it again.. Comparing nutrients is not apples to apples...The positive results out way he negative.. Every grow in my albums I used PBP with canna PK 13/14. I even won a few pic contest for BOG and Serious...I think genetics and pheno selection play a bigger role in potency then nute's

I didnt feel that way.I had 6 rows 0f 3- 4x8 trays and each row had its own rez and in the end the plants with Pure Blend Pro where just not the same compared to Advance Sensi or Heavy 16. I am pretty picky when it comes to quality what most would think was great I would call ok and im talking about my own work. Im willing to give it another go in one of the small rooms 20 k but I would not run it with the results I had in one of the BIG rooms.

Sure genetics play a role I have some amazing Phenos but when I compared the same strain grown in a different nutrien same everything . Same room and the one with Pure Blend wasnt as frosty or did not stack the way I know the genetic can . I went with the one that out produced in quality and quanity. If it was one and not the other I would have adjusted and ran all over again but it was not. I will never be stuck on just one nutrien I am always willing to try new things thats why I tried Pure Blend PRo. I always heard good things but I found different. Dosent mean some one else isn't having ok results its just not what I prefer in the final.I ran it in Roots Organic soil and the room is as dialed as they come with the same strains.

Your absolutely correct theres always going to be people that like different things then myself or others. That's just human nature. Since it produces top shelf for myself I love the stuff.

With any chem nutes, its all about knowing the balance. The more products in the mix, the harder it is to balance. But I must say that "PBP" used to be "my shit" Loved me some PBP....
