jojo what kine genetics you tried in da bush
Aloha Brah. I'm serious, I have tried hundreds of different strains over the years in da bush. All the classics, most sativa landraces and tons of hybrids. If you can name, I probably tried it already. Thats the most honest answer I can give ya.If you have questions about any certain strain, just ask.

do the sativas grow too big if planted in da red dirt?
Whats too big?,lol.. It really depends on the strain, what time of yr and how big of a container. That will affect how big they get more than what dirt they are in. I do know that plants love the red dirt, cindrs and such.. I have seen 12 ft plus plants grown in mostly red cinders and a little fox farms.

I got 5 Golden tigers going now by ACE seeds and they are strong vigorous sativas that shouldnt get too big.
Depends on when they were started and how big your pot is. From what I understand those ACE plants can get huge. Good luck and keep us posted with the results. I am thinking of getting some ACE gear myself.

U ever tried 100% sativa long flowering here guerilla?
Im doing some right now :) Answer is yes. I have done them every which way you can think. Outdoors in pots, in the ground, in hydroponic wick systems in the desert and on the lava flows, even up in da trees. I have done them in the green house and even indoors. I love me some landrace or hybrids 100% sativas :)
Im working Nevilles Haze x Mullimbimby Maddness and Indian Sativa. These are both 100% sativas and I have them in 50 gallon woven grow bags outside in the bush. They are 8ft tall and 6-7 ft wide and are on the natural rhythmic cycle of the island.I started these seeds in February, and it looks like they have another 3- 4 months to go. Talk about long :) I'm going out there today and I will post pics tonight .

Indian Sativa

Indian Sativa

Here are some pics from the Indian Sativa. This seed was brought back from India by my landlord. She grew the seedling in the bush by her house and gave the 1 ft tall, weakly budding plant to me in Feb. I cut off the underdeveloped buds and did a regrow. The plant is now 9 ft tall and 6-7 ft wide :) I got to smell the buds in Feb. Very sugurary sweet, almost like bubblegummy sweet...I cannot wait :)

Those are some nice big plants JOJO. Both of mine plant that are your size just started to bud a month earlier than I wanted but the OG over powered the Colombian side. Those bags sound perfect for me thanks.

I grew these back in 2009, got nearly a lb, it wasn't potent bud tho, its updated version of early girl, by sativa seedbank, called "sativa slang"

They were the hardiest plants i've ever worked with, didn't need any attention.

the GT are already 6 inches and growing vigorously, only a little over 2 weeks from seed. They love the tropics ill get some pics.

Yeah brah, looking good :) Get your post counts up so your PM privileges kick in.Gotta have 50.I tried to answer you but cannot.
I grew some Early girl couple times. same thing , only so so.
The one to try is Early Pearl. I did those a cuple times and they are potent. Even better was a NL5 x Early Pearl. that shit was straight fire.

but the OG over powered the Colombian side.
That sounds like a dream cross to me. How is that thing doing? Hope your makin' it through all this rain.

I have a smoke report on the CatDog (Cataract Kush x ChemD) This herb is da crippler. Heavy narcotic smoke that gets you HIGH!!!
The smell of the buds is og/chem top with an affie bottom.Same with the taste. Extremely spicy, rich, potent smoke that goes straight to your head. This cut I am going to run again. Its an 8 or 9 outa 10 for me on the first go round.

I also have a smoke report on the Bluemoonshine.
This smoke is almost too strong. It literally is like moonshine. I get so fucked up I forget what I'm doing, wake up with hangovers and cant remember what I have done sometimes. Its daywrecker for shure. Don't smoke this in the morning or your whole day is gonna be shot. Your gonna get overwhelming munchies and keep smoking and get so fucked up all you can do is watch movies or stare into space.
It has a blueberry fuel smell to the buds with a skunky funky undertone. Taste is like I find in most of the blue line, if that makes sense. I'm not gonna run this again because of mold and PM issues. Its too wet for an Indica like this here. Dry side or low elevations would be a monster bud bomb, just not in the wet.

The weather has been wet the whole last week. Rain most of the day, and most of the night. walking out on the porch you can smell the jungle, the funk. Everything smells soggy and damp. I have folded laundry that is molding, so are all my leather hats.
I am really happy with these new woven grow bags that have the built in drawstring cover. They keep my soil from getting washed out and the plants getting over watered. I will be buying more of those.

Got flown by the Green Harvest LEO's today. They went up and down the roads for hours in every direction BUT mine :) They did death spirals and low and slow back and forth on a couple guys 2 roads up and 2 roads down for 2 hours this afternoon. I got my monsters hid well, its gonna take a slow direct flight over the patch for them to be spotted. I'm gonna sleep well tonight knowing tomorrow is another day :)
I expect them back tom and the next day. I wont hold my breathe.

Arguably the top sativa strain available today. With 90% sativa genetices, Kali Mist grows into tall, running, classically sativa plants with very few leaves. This strain produces dense clusters of full fluffy buds, producing much higher yields than you would expect. The plant structure and few leaves allow the light to pass all the way to lower branches, allowing bottom buds to develop fully. When planted outside early in the year this plant can grow very tall. Expect spiraling flowers with a high resin content and a delightfully spicy scent.

Kali Mist is often the choice of experts for their own stash grows. Also, particularly women seem to like this strain, next to the sheer pleasure of smoking it, we received several reports that it works great against menstrual cramps.

this is what i would pick or mr.nice mango-haze,Neville haze,or skunk-haze, or any one of SAM skunk man T*H x haze or OHX Haze.
We are proud to announce that Kali Mist was improved in 2000 to produce bigger yields. In Spain it proved to be very mold resistent, even outside during bad weather. This strain has flavor and subtle cerebral effect that gave it a Cannabis Cup first prize in 1995 (Hydro Cup) and again (with this new and improved version) in 2000 (Seed Company Sativa Cup)! Without a doubt the choice for

It's been so rainy, wet and humid that all my plants outdoors have white fuzzy roots coming out of all the stalks and branches. It's a weird sight to see, plants look like they are trying to clone themselves. We have not had a week of sun this entire summer yet :(
I gotta go back out there today and take pics of this.

My plants made it through GH and also the rains. These Col x chem have no rot and one part of the bush is almost done. I cut 4 plant that were rot out. I wish all mine were these col. The Chem kicked them off fast they will be done before Sept. When I can will get a close up. Latters DB View attachment 177101

A nice plant grew out for mold is a 3bud per node plant that also has extreme separation of buds at the node. I hope my English is understood here. I mean when young the plants have3 leaves per node and soon after, still in veg, the node will stretch apart and the 3 axillary buds become like spiral up the plant, very good for air flow and limit moisture buildup. In tropics even more wet than Hawaii these plants have lived well through sever extend rain storms.

we like select for physical morphology of nodes as well as other common traits. if its wet climate, it is as important as any other as moldy bud is now waste.

Gano thanks for that info. Any pics of them?

JOJO
Here is the bush. These seeds came from Gage Green Gen and no hermies in this cross and only a couple of spots of mold,I'm super happy not all do well in Hawaii 1st time.

Hello, i get pictures soon, they just start flower now so no bud picture.

The plant node structure look at and try to select as well. the 3 buds per node is nice, and as they grow they stagger apart.

WOW!! Looking good :) Looks like I gotta get me some gage green seeds of that strain. The Nevilles Madness and the sativa's I'm growing looks like shit compared to your buds. Not even in the same ballpark,lol.. I made a huge mistake growing the strains I did.
I have had a miserable failure of a year this year. From sub par genetics in a couple strains to grower/partner error of every sort, and every problem in between. Most of all mold, powdery mildew and downey mildew has severely affected my sucess this year.I have yet to grow any strain this year that has not gotten it. I have not been able to grow one single plant, indoor or out with any real success. I have also had constant pH issues, along with heat and ventilation problems in my indoor rooms. My veg room is producing lanky sick plants that hardly grow. I am getting growth like I'm under weak floro's??? I cant get the problem sorted out.. I just ran this same system for a year in California with outstanding results. I move home to Hawaii and it's like I cant grow for shit. This is the worst year of my life grow wise. I just dont understand why I am having all these problems or even what to do to sort out any of them. Its frustrating to say the least. I have spent countless hours worried and wasting time and money.
Really bad year this year...

Cant quit or things will be worse...SOOO this is what I did.

I started over.
From the beginning, from scratch. Like I'm a new grower and have to learn everything. Things are that screwed up around here.
I took a intensive introspective look at my systems , my tools and most of all MYSELF, and my methods. I have read days of ICmag posts :) I have tried every method I can find on ICmag with ZERO, I mean NO sucess yet. Im still trying. When I find out the source of all these problems, its gonna be a great day :)
I replaced bulbs, bought new pH meters and fertilizers. Bought new bags of coco, bought new bales of sunshine #4, new bags of FFOF. New pots, new trays got everything ready and on hand. I have all the correct sized pots of all kind make and models. Airpots, smartpots, plasticpots, woven grow bags, you name it, we got it. out with old, in with the new...
I then researched proven methods and recipes for sucess. I calibrated pH meters and PPM pens correctly, and have a backup in case of emergencies. I have 2 PPM pens, 2 pH pens and test strips that do 6 different tests at once.. I'm ready for anything..
At this point, I knew I had the right tools, that they all worked (most of the time, lol) and that I had the right grow medium for whatever situation I create. This eased my mind and allowed me to focus on other issues.

Biggest problem I was having is the inability to keep a plant healthy. If I started with a healthy clone or seedling from someone, it would take a nose dive and never recover. I tried every recipe in the book. I tried only water. NOTHING worked. It was after months of failures then that I knew my problems started with my water source. Was I overfeeding, not enough, wrong recipe, overwatering?? I was spinning my wheels, Felt more hopeless than a newb. No matter what I did, and I know all the tricks, nothing would stay healthy.. TILL I CHANGED MY WATER SOURCE. Come to find out, my $10k water tank and $3k filter system makes rainwater potable for house use, but not for plants. This was found out in july/aug. Been having problems since Feb...
Water comes out the filters at 5 pH and maybe 10-12 PPM. I'm thinking "wow that's great a little ph up and its like r/o water"
I was all set up with good water....WRONG!!!
If I add any ferts at all, no matter what strength, drops pH to low 3's. It takes tablespoons of pH UP to get to 5.8-6... This was the first sign of a problem. So I wet with the organics and put away the pen. Made things WAY worse , had to destroy all my plants and start completely over. did this twice, wait no, 3 times so far since Feb.., I don't have any plants to talk about beside e 2 giant outdoor monsters that are taking forever and look like will take till November at this rate.arghhhh!!!
Ok back to the story...
Thanks to the wonderful community here at ICmag :) We got to the source of the supposed problem and how supposedly to remedy it. The solution was simple, I was told to add .25g per gallon of calcium carbonate to add alkalinity and adjust the water chemistry. My water system was stripping the rainwater of all usable buffers and any alkalinity. I went to the garden store, bought 10lb's of Calc Carb, for $3.49. I'm thinking "this is great, inexpensive and will solve my problems"
WRONG, again.....
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=243302
Its all there, the different tests.
I just never got the rainwater from our tank and system to grow anything right.
Test #1
Took 4 gallons of water from the filtered tank,it read 17 PPM and 4.8pH. I then added .25 grams per gallon of Calc Carb, stirred it up and took a reading, no change.
Not to pH or to PPM.
Calc Carb at the suggested rate did nothing to the plain water far as I could tell. I let it set for 24 hrs anyway before adding nutes.
WHAT IT DID DO.... was turn my GH Maxi nutes milky and slightly foamy. After 24 hrs, the clear green or pink solution would be milkey whitish green or pink. The mix was PRECIPITATING.... We NOW noticed that all of the plants we used the clear mix on were screwed up also..
That made 4 straight runs that failed.. Even plain water did nothing to help... 4 straight times I had to kill everything and start over..
What I do now is mix my nutes with plain water the day before I need them, wait till the pH rises to the lowest desired range and feed. No more precipitation, no more ph up. If anything I use like 1/8 tsp of pH down per 5 gallon bucket when out of range after 3-4 days.I just start feeding at 5.8 and stop at 6.3 or so.
It took months of failure, weeks of tests and a little luck, but I seem to have found a groove with my water and my nutes.

Next problem had to be the soiless medium I chose to use, right had to be..LOL. Anyway. Its called Klasmann TS4. Kinda like Sunshine mix#4 or Promix. But somehow this stuff made it impossible to use ferts. Even at 1/4 strength, plants would ram horn and twist and curl. I'm not using it anymore, I learned my lesson. Using that stuff screwed up my whole crop, live n learn I guess. But the kicker is, any grow medium I chose to use it with did the same thing. FFOF , Coco, it did not matter what I mixed that Klasmann with, no matter how much I cut the stuff, I got the same result. Everytime they start healthy, for the first week, then the ramhorned leaves and twisting, curling starts.New growth is mutated looking growth.Little hooks form at the tips of all the leaves, the leaf itself turns dark and starts to crinkle and mutate. And the plants did this on straight water, so all those that are thinking overfert, I feel ya, but clones on only water all of life, they did it also.. It had to be the goddamn Klasmann .
Back to Sunshine #4...

Third strike was my veg room. To put it bluntly, it sucked. Name a problem and I had it. Room ran at 88 with 78% humidity and was hotter during hot days. This is a 7' x 7' x 8' room, with 1 400w MH vented by a 4" vortex. Not optimum, but its what I have. And Im too broke to get any kind of new equipment. The room has had outbreaks of powdery mildew, botrytis and downy mildew. Most of the time it was all 3 at once. Even though we sprayed religiously with green cure, it was out of control. Not till we added a dehumidifier AND the green cure did we get it under control. I got rid of all the mothers and any clones that had problems. so this round I have healthy plants, THANK GOD.. The room at first was a ghetto attempt to veg some plants for outdoor season this year. Since I'm done with outdoor for a minute, and have a 7x7x8 with A/c and a dehumidifier I decided to rebuild the room and be more efficient with the resources I have.
We put up drywall on the unfinished wall, hung a proper door, one that can lock.. We installed a 5,000btu A/C unit to cool temps and regulate humidity.Bought a brand new bat wing reflector, that proceeded to burn, and turn ugly colors, idk why??? Anyone have that problem?
Anyway, the room is now sealed and the temps are 75 with 55% humidity 24 hrs a day. That was the first step in the right direction.
Now I'm installing drip trays to catch the runoff from my blumats. That's the second and third step, going in tonight..
Im working with a 400w digital ballast and an eye hortilux super HPS.
The tray I have is 30" x30", perfect for a 400w. Gonna do run to waste.
Have both GH and PBP , will do COCO or sunshine #4.

In theory , I have this all worked out for an indoor run. PLEASE GOD LET THIS WORK OUT, PLEASE ..

I gave up on growing outside, too much rain for any of the strains I ran this year, nothing but problems.. Maybe next year :)
I will post pics of the Nevilles Madness and the sativas another day. Im too damn tired and discouraged to even go out there today.

i lost an entire garden this year to some kind of fungus. the plants were growing in poor soil and my amendments didn't bring the soil up to snuff. i figure poor soil, weak nutrition, weak immune system. even my golden tigers in this garden took hits from the mold/fungus.

other plants in healthy soil garden are banging right along looking real good..

another entire garden got hard hit by deer. pretty much total loss.
