USD Week 3 complete

USD Week 3 complete

I am very pleased so far with this run. I had to tuck quite a few tops back to the front of the screen! I would say they grew at least 12" in the 5 days I was away. They were pretty thirsty, but were not showing any signs. The Hygromite retains plenty of moisture, which likely bought me a day or so. I need to automate this shit asap...

According to the 40/60 rule, I have 10 more days of stretch, and I am planning on taking them to at least 77 days...

Cherry Pie Day 18

Cherry Pie Day 18

Not sure if I should have vegged these another week or so. They are not very stretchy, and look like they would be perfect candidates for budsicles...

A-

Yeah the CP needs a "little" more veg than the USD (which as you know, stretch like mofos), Man I LOVE the new room, KISS bro......I think this is going to do MUCH better and I need to talk to you more about those X nutrients, they sound like "dah shit".

Oh and congrats on the new opportunity down in Soquel ..happy for you and your boys and the g/f and of course the dogs!

You will like the coco better then the under current. I tried the same thing you did first but I have terrible heat problems and switched to coco. So much less stress.

Looking good.

I just finished eating barbecued salmon with a sour cream, horseradish, dill sauce...
Supposed to go out again tomorrow. If we get more salmon, I can save some for you if you like.

I let my g/f and her dad go today, was up late in the garden...
I have a couple of salmon steaks vacuum sealed in the freezer I will hook you up with.
My focus today is to figure out how to jimmy rig a DTW system with my leftover DWC parts and a timer.
I am thinking I can use the 15 minute interval timer, with maybe a shutoff valve in front of the manifold to control the flow to the 1/4" lines.
I need to be able to dial it in where there is minimal runoff due to only having saucers under my #2 smartpots. I can tolerate some spilling over the saucers since my floor is waterproof.
I really need to drop some cash on blumats, but I have to sort too many things atm.
I will do a photo update later today.

This dialed enough for you DHF?

This dialed enough for you DHF?

Here are my highs and lows from a 24 hour period that is pretty typical. The high/low temps rise and fall a few degrees depending on weather, but the spread is the same. RH range pretty much stays the same. The min/max's don't represent the averages, which I think would be more helpful...
Min: Temp during lights off, RH during lights on
picture.php

Max: Temp during lights on, RH during lights off
picture.php

The hottest it has gotten with lights on is 74 degrees. It may jump a couple of points when I add the light for the third site, but I can just throw in one more 6" inline fan to offset that.
As far as air exchanges go, I am a little short of 2x a minute.
Room dimensions 10x12x8= 960cf x2= 1920
Extraction= Three 6" inline fans at 454cfm= 1362cfm
Intakes= Six 6" passive intakes, plus my AC/Heater/Dehuey adds another 250cfm as an active intake.
With those calculations I think it is time to get another 6" fan either way. That would bring me up to 1816cfm, and with the active intake another 200 or so...
I also have 3 honeywells under each light, and a 12" orbital oscillating fan stirring things up.

Regrettably, I am hand watering for now, but that is going to change ASAP! This is my first run with Coco, coming from RDWC, so I have most of the parts, just need to put it together...
Was hoping for an answer on how in HGO's latest thread, but he is pretty busy I imagine.

And Then There Was Three

And Then There Was Three

I finally got a chance to break up the cherry pie from the others.
picture.php

I was able to get the plants a bit closer, 16" from plant stem. I also did some light defoliation.
Hk#1

The USD octagon is approaching 4 weeks this Tuesday. They should have less than a week of stretch, and I will be able to start defoliation.

Thanks Bonzo, I am very happy with X Nutrients. Like all feeding programs, I started at half strength, then work up from there. I was at .8 EC in veg, and i just fed them at 3/4 strength, and I think the EC was around 1.6, which is probably as high as I will go.

First Attempt With a Drip System

First Attempt With a Drip System

Decided hand watering is for the Corey, and Trevors of the world, not me...
Started with my res. Put a tee off of the pump, with shutoff valves. When mixing my soup, I can shut off the water to the loop manifold, forcing the soup to mix, speeding up the time spent stirring each product...
picture.php

I put the loop manifold around my fan, and ran equal lengths of 1/4 tubing and a drip stake to each plant.
picture.php

I set the first feeding for 2 minutes which gave me just enough runoff to be absorbed within 20 minutes. I set the next feed for 1 minute 5 hours later, which was too much, too soon... I am going to let them dry for a day, then try again. I am thinking 2 feeds for 1 minute twice during lights on, and 1 minute during lights off...
Drippers in action.

Hey Arm ....Been havin trouble postin on vacation......Your lights off RH concerns me in that it oughta be reversed with lights on ftw till end of stretch , .......but....

The basket stakes are a plus , but with bigger containers more timed feeds are`nt necessary and lights off feed needs ta go away cuz it`ll raise RH in late bloomage and work against yas guaranteed....

HGO`s usin like lil over 1.5 gal containers that dry out faster and require more feeds to keep the medium constantly "moist" , so bigger smartpots need backed off of from there to find their sweet spot , and trial and error will rule the day Bro.....

Keep dialin Bro....Yas`re gettin there Killer work....

Peace.....Freds.....:ying:.....
