Spinosad or other Thrips killer in Canada.

Is there any place to get Spinosad in Canada? How about any other proven thrips killer? I had some stuff from BC called T that killed them all in one shot before. Is there any place to get that stuff anymore?

TIA

I could not kill those little bastards without spinosad. I googled Monteray Garden Insect Spray and found a seller who would send it to my area (my safe addy.). It arrived without any problems and killed all the thrips in one single application - great stuff. I hope that helps you.

azamax and malithion both work to a degree... but they always come back. not near as bad of a pest as mites, but more of an annoyance if anything. they can also b virus vectors

I you can try biologic way ...

like use predator to kill all of your thrips or spider mite ..

you can get there or search for
Amblyseius cucumeris

http://www.kalyx.com/store/proddetail.cfm/ItemID/676228/CategoryID/12000/SubCatID/2560/file.htm

enjoy

:yeahthats Thebuglady.ca here in BC has some A. cucumeris in stock and are a safe method to try. They come in large amounts but you can always donate the extra to your local garden shop. :)

" THRIPS CONTROL

NO-THRIPS (A. Cucumeris)
Attack those little pests with these hardworking predators by feeding on the juvenile thrips.
Unit Size: 10,000 mites

I've twice in the last few years had total thrip infestation, the source plant was almost dead by the time I treated them.

One spray with monteray's garden insect w/spinosad completely eliminated them.

Spinosad.

Same here..

Monterey's garden insect spray eliminated thrips in one application. Haven't seen those little bastards ever again.

Had to get my local US retailer to order out of their "Gardeners Digest" catalog. Not sure about Canadian sources.

If ya cant find it in Canada call a US store and see if they will USPS flat rate box one up to you. If ya find one willing to spend the time to fill out a custom form it shouldn't be too costly..

if you have more than a few plants to treat I would suggest entrust 80w, its available in canada and omri listed.

monterey is 0.5% spinosad, you are paying for water. entrust 80 is 80% spinosad

a lot of IPM papers I have read say to avoid organophophate insecticides like malathion for thrips but in my experience letting the medium dry out and then soil drenching with malathion will totally wipe them out

Id highly suggest avoiding all Organophosphate insecticides!

Thanks for the entrust 80w suggestion. I hate paying for watered down products.

So still no Canadian supplier for Spinosad? Even an online store within Canada. I would rather not have this shit go through Customs if possible, but I have my seemingly annual summer thrips attack just starting. This time I don't feel like pyrethrin fogging like I usually do. I find pyrethrins are pretty hard on plants. I would love to get some of this Spinosad to try. Thanks for any info.

Well if you saw what the fines are for selling pesticides with out a proper license you'd know why. Go get a commercial applicator/dispensers license and then any agricultural wholesale will sell it to you.

I will resort to chemicals if I have to....

When I got my Dr. A's NL cuts the had thrips....never seen the little buggers before...

10ml bleach /1Liter of water + a drop of dishsoap...spray 2-3 times first day, then swithch to just bleach/water for a couple days...

Got rid of my issues for good...

Now for something like spidermites....I break out the AVID...at least in early veg, or clone..

conserve sc by dow agro 11.6% spinosad
customs will let it through as long as its only a bottle or 2 at a time
thrips and mites gone in one treatment
always rotate pesticides to prevent resistance
and OC read and follow safety directions that are on the label
always better to order these products during the warmer season when they are not likely to be subject to freezing

pesticides are dangerous if misused educate yourself on the product that you plan on using beforehand it may save your life

spinosad is fairly people safe but its hell on bees and aquatics

Hey Grow shop Frank is this still true that i could order one bottle of the conserve sc by dow and not need my pesticide applicators license? would hate to have my shipment jacked considering the cost of shipping here. i really need this stuff my thrips won't go away. i have done the azamax drenches 2 weeks in a row i sprayed the foliar all sides of leaves with neem oil, diatomaceous earth dressing on the tops of my dirt. and still i come in to see a few of the little bastards there on the nice new growth..

knowing it only takes one female thrip to repopulate feels like im losing the battle. 100 bucks a bottle for the azamax and i got basically 2 treatments from it.... cleaned my room removed excess leaves. whats your take on the dr doom pyrethrum fogger bomb. haven't tried that yet. there is definitely less of them now but just being able to see them in the open is a bad sign to me. I need the spinosad and everywhere i went to ask about it looks at me like im a damn terrorist. lol

i am ready to pay the 180 bucks it will cost to get this stuff because i read once you use this stuff problem solved and thats what i need. they are all baby plants right now so no bud and i want it taken care of before it goes to flower. the end.
