You do make it fairly easy with some of the things you say but who cares its all about growing the dank, how are things btw.. Whats happening with your plants are they flowering yet.. Males, Females? You know a pic or 2 would really help get a diagnosis here

you should see in the shroomery forums..informatyion that once was solid,fact 5-10 years ago..is widely recognised as obsolete now...and tis because people were able to think outside the box and experiment..they werent hassled and mocked because of their strange ideas..they were encouraged and supported...
so what if the 36h dark is bullshit..what if it ISNT?....who's to say?...do any of you have the time,space,resources to run a lab grade controlled experiment?....I doubt it..its all anedoctal....

What will retard the 'packing on pistals' ?
Usualy i get pistals in two weeks and packing weight by 4 weeks .

Oh man that IS pretty damn cold for cannabis...I say its the temps..if your good on the nutes,etc...cannabis loves her some heat man..boosts plant metabolism...even the low 80's can and does produce very nice fast growing plants...

low temps at the canopy level will slow the plants metabolism, like blaze said. so increase the canopy temps... soil or hydro... canopy temps are canopy temps and can be accepted with in a certain range for each variety. with hydro it is important to keep the reservoir at cool temps, as warmer water holds less oxygen, and cool water can offset higher canopy temps. keeping the leaves in a temperature zone of 68-76 F* is usually good for most varieties without CO2.
Well, I've come back to this thread - yes low temps slow growth...
But I've have seen time and time again - when MAN tries to alter the process of nature and how it functions - we screw it up.
It has taken a number of years for indoor horticulture to become as progressive as it is and certainly as knowledge increases so do the facts surrounding said knowledge.
That aside - there are just certain processes that people don't take the time to understand...
I have just recently realized - the ONLY reason cannabis is able to flower so rapidly indoors - as a result of 12/12 - from the ONSET - we have triggered the genetically encoded process of senescence. We tell the plant it is fall - this we know. However - fall is technically THE BEGINNING OF THE END - not the START of flower. We really FORCE death to the plant by using a controlled lighting schedule. That is why a plant may flower in 8wks indoors vs say 12-14 outdoors. We have essentially SKIPPED a part of the plants life cycle by taking it from early spring to fall so rapidly. Study up on senescence - very fascinating topic when you relate it to what we do in an indoor garden in regards to how much we feed / continue to push a plant in flower like it is going through an entire cycle.
Indoor horticulture has been geared and revolves around human needs - ie things that are pleasing to the end consumer or the producer. Yield, density, bud shape, plant structure, etc...
How much are we taking away from the plant -again - by not letting the plant be the judge of it's own needs. This is exactly why I am a proponent of a fully organic approach - let the plant do it's own thing...no force feeding and inject the roots.
I don't give my plants 'roid rage ... and NATURALLY about 5wks in usually I start to see the first signs of yellowing and the full effects of senescence are being realized - where most freak out and feed - I smile and KNOW I'm going to have some EXTREMELY cleaning burning and tasty medicine - more representative of the genetics - than the nutrient company.
I have a hard time understanding your comment about NOT following nature - to me, that just seems so backwards and fallacious ...
I'll convert you and baptize you in some alfalfa meal, bat poop, and nettle FPE yet...

Think of the plants as running a program. That's what they do. You Have limited control over the program by changing the photoperiod. The 36 hour thing doesnot exist in nature, and replication of nature is exactly what you are trying to achieve.
The hormones you speak of are called Auxins, and they function kinda as the plants nervous system and allow the plant to respond to environmental stimuli. Some of them are sensitive to light.
Since you've said that you read growing books, I strongly recommend that you pick up a copy of "marijuana botany" by Clarke (available at Amazon). It and "Hashish!", also by Clarke, are to 2 most oft quoted books on ALL of these grow sites. Read and re-read them both. Then I recommend adding DJ's and maybe Soma's books.

Its been said already but keep those canopy temps above 60 degrees holmes, cold temps slow growth fo real. Also when it gets cold your going to have increased humidity most of the time so get a little heater or dehumidifier in there with the girls foir when the lights are off.
Dank Frank keeps representing with some golden posts, i would really try to take it in Blaze, maybe take half the time you spend chatting and invest it into reading up on this site followed by some critical thinking.. I know you probably feel like your getting bullied a bit at times (trust me your not) its just that most people on here are experienced growers and they will get upset when they feel like they're wasting their time trying to help you. The rest will just post facepalm pics and poke fun..
