Well
Looks Like Ol Cabby has been sent a bogus cut ...

I've had Calio back in 2000 from my buddy DSOTM at CW
It was a crazy sweet smelling gal when done and just a joy to
grow,,,,a really nice full skunk that grew so much different to the
typical growth of today's sought after ,viney stretchy phenotypes.

Although this gal looked very much like the cut I had back then
when flowered she showed me she wasnt the real deal

This tester I flowered to verify her just proved that ...

It smells like cat piss and the quality is sub par and shit in
all regards ....not worth another day in my garden ...

Majorly bummed as I had faith in the source that sent her .
Back in the day at CW we were solid and cuts were true to name

Hell this isn't any different than the Med scene here in MI
everybody is running around claiming this and that and nothing
is even close to being accurate,,,It's really gone to shit completely .

Accuracy and authenticity is top priority .....

guess this project is in the shitter moving on
have plenty of fire to play with currently .....

Don't pay any attention to the calio word on the
pic ,,because this isn't it !

Liking this Cabby :woohoo:

Well put outdoor show too :dance013:

I actually have a few C99s as well as a PCK coming along as well from seed!

Yano I feel Charlie is doing some great breeding and is one of the true breeders today ...

He uses plenty of males and maintains an open platform with any of his strains (no bottlenecking )
But the PCK has yet to impress me...
It's a pretty plant and all are uniform as hell ,but as far as vigor or potency ,,there really isn't any ...
so don't expect much from the PCK and you'll be fine..

C99 ..haaa well I love this strain ,,worked with her plenty

Hey Cabron, sick outdoor plants! I didn't get to do mine this year, was busy, and kinda weary since last year went pretty crappy.

Sucks about the Cali0... The MI comment made me chuckle though... :D Lol More than true to say the least...

Keep it up with the projects I love to check em' out

I just conversed with the source and this is the real Calio even verified by aeric himself..
Damn the cut I had in 2k was just soo much better ...
I see now why there are plenty of breeders that have chosen to let her go and move on.

But since her offspring have shown to be worthy with the case of Chimera's C plus
and Nebu's Jackie O I will use some fire against this cut to make some serious beanage

may as well ,,I have 4 monster bushes ,guess I'll use her for butter and oil when I'm done removing seeds....

spread the beans across MI outlets for patients to play with ..

probably gonna just go ahead and set a few of my Firewalker boys out
there to hit her ,,,,that will jump the potency up in the gal ...

Habla Cabron!
Interesting news re: your Calio. I had a Calio x sk1 cross back in the 80's that I did extensive work with and still hold up as my "Ideal" all-around. It had quite a bit of the viney stretchiness that you describe in your earlier Calio cut. It always looked like it couldn't support much production and never made very big colas but in the end always managed to out-yield everything else, somehow (and with better quality). Of course I lost it in the mid nineties to the "man" along with a decade of genetic work, oh well that was the good old days!

Anyways my point is that I have always wondered how much contribution the Calio was making in trait expression. I was never able to come up with a Calio cut that I felt was sufficiently authenticated to warrant starting another massive project to prove these points out. Having a lot of experience working with early skunk1 I am,however, well aware of which traits were absolutely not coming from that side.

When I saw the pic of your Calio cut and read your initial reactions I thought the same exact thing as you. After reading your exerience it makes me think the Calio may have a number of dominant traits not expressed in its elite form. So hard to judge based on the limited number of seed co hybrids released over the years since I have very little confidence in the authenticity of breeding stock that I don't personally know the chain of custody on. All speculation of course but perhaps it warrants a cross to a known, predictable IBL father just to better map it out.

Good to see someone working with it, based on my work with her I believe there is more unrealized potential in that strain than people suspect.
