Hey Merkaba nice trim work those buds look super long. Interesting thread Im really diggging getting another cool history lesson from the land of weed.. I mean the west coast/ thx

King swing-compared to those top budz that 2nd bud looks pretty small is that one of the buds from lower down on the tree you have in the first picture? Its amazingly trimmed in my personal opinion, great work growperson. That is from indoor right, or is the bud from some other project you have working on. (sorry for interruption)

Yeah those pics were just what I could dig up since I dont like to hold on to huge libraries of pics for too long (old habit from underground days) but those tops in that room were larger than I prefer to let them get, they look good in pics but at that size the quality is less than that of the "understory". That room could have benefited from one more topping before turn back. Either way I usually break up tops as much as possible to have a more homogenous finished med. But yeah those pics were of some of the smaller/med sized pieces. Here are some pics of average size that I go for (roughly 1 1/2")

5 wks in. 1.5 gallon Coco drip, the stalks are about as big as my thumb, maybe even bigger. Look to get at least 3 oz per plant. Love this strain, I am seriously thinking of running nothing but this from now on. I have a few boutique strains that are fun to play with, but I just keep coming back to the Shipwreck!

Merk- nice job on those SW's, yeah, all things considered it's a hard strain to beat. If you ever come by "Willamette #9" grab it up. The Willamette series is actually a further extension of the SW line. Further work was done on both parent lines to improve yield and veg time. It is an f1 from the same parentage (I get the impression that there may have been an out-cross on one parental side several generations back but i don't know for sure) and was made by the orig breeder so it is very much like the orig SW but with a small bump in yield, definitely faster veg times, and the flavor is a bit more penetrating with a little added complexity. We have been testing it out as a replacement for SW for the last 1 1/2 yr in our mid plant count rooms and it is proving to be the first worthy replacement to come along out of the last 200+ test strains.

I had the shipwreck back in 2006 , when i got it I was told it was train wreck x afghani ...

Still have the E32 around..

my two cents...
the first time i ever heard the word or saw the plant ship wreck was about 15 years ago. a friend names caleb from petrolia took a trainwreck female i gave him and pollinated it with an inbred afghani line he got from his pop. the afghani line was held closely by the family and they never outcrossed the line. the vigor was lacking from the years of inbreeding and trait fixing but when you laid that male pollen into anything magic occured.

shipwreck was a line but a choice cultivar was selected and took on the shipwreck name. i remember smoking a bomber of it one night with the the crew and it took me twice as long as it normally did to make it back inland from the coast. i was literally blind. brutal cannabis for sure.
best,

I’m a friend to Caleb (I’m a bit younger) Caleb is the creator of shipwreck. The genetics are Trainwreck x pure indica
I also saw talks of planewreck on this thread. He told me planewreck was a pure indica (citrus indica) x trainwreck. He also gave me some original g13, shipwreck, g13 trainwreck, pure indica, and sgt pepper. He’s taking a long break from growing he’s older and wants to focus on family. He blessed me with his stock. He wants to start a company one day but wants everything to be right. He’s not on social media and resides in oregon after California for years. Much love I have no skin in the game other than I’m going to recreate some of these older lines. The pure indica line he gave me and I just popped tonight on the full moon is labeled from big craig

Shipwreck having mothership in it is bogus. The interwebs is wrong on that one. The strain is important to him. He definitely isn’t trying to claim anything that isn’t his. I’m guessing there’s more than one shipwreck
