To Light Spread, or Not to Light Spread

That is the question......

Has anyone used the light spreader's that come with the Avenger Adjust-a-Wings?

Have read positive and negative things about them but I was looking for people that have actually used them and did they help?

Thanks in advance!

Waste of money IMO. I bought the large aaw and the spreader at the same time.

Used a cheap light meter to map the intensity with and with out the spreader. The spreader blocks most of the light in the center of the table. Pretty much exactly what you would expect if you put a piece of metal directly under the bulb. I felt like such an idiot for wasting the money.

FWIW, I'm getting rid of the aaw as well. It's way too big (my circ fans push it around like it's a kite) and no shows advantage in side by side tests with the LR1000's I used to use.

Same same, always got (3 times) lower crop under light spreader than next to it with out.

spreaders don't work so well with adjust a wings but when used with cheap bat wings they can help with that big hot spot directly under the lamp and can save the day in low height situations

What do you think of the reflector moving? Is that something you don't like? I agree 100% they do move around a lot from the fans but for me I kinda thought that was a good thing like it was moving the light bands you get off the sides around so it more evenly spread the intense light around but am always open to others opinions. What is your take on this? Did you have a noticeable difference in yield when your lights became stationary or in your side by side test? I am always looking for new information so any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much :rasta:

My light mover was one of the best purchases I made, the light spreaders were not.

My experience:
Light mover = noticeably better light penetration
Light spreaders = noticeably less light directly under the hood.

If you can afford a light move get one. You will see an increase in yield. I found one new for $180.00.

These don't work? Adjust A Wings say "Performance may be enhanced significantly?"

I can't run movers cause I have two lights over each table unfortunately. Also I keep my table small so my total footprint for canopy is 4' x 7' hopefully giving each plant maximum light :D I am getting quite a bit of side to side movement though just from the fan and it seems like the plants in those areas get the heaviest. I look at it like me free light mover :rasta:

IMHO they do work but in a more of a band-aid kind of way to solve issues with low ceilings or hot spots from inferior reflectors they sure aren't needed with adjust a wing reflectors

It's not the light moving around that I don't like, it's the fact that it blocks the airflow from my circ fans. I like to keep the air moving at canopy level and the aaw's block a lot of it.

FWIW, I've moved on to Gavita 1000 DE's on light movers. Tiny footprint, big light!
