How to use new pipe

Thanks everyone! I think the glass stick is the best way. You can control the burn (vape) with the stick. I can see allready that I will be making a lot more full melt since I have a better way to smoke it!

Was looking for a shower head attachment like that. On second thought, the long glass probably cools the smoke as well as water.

What is a Hakko?

I Googled it and could not find anything that would help.

Hakko is a brand of soldering irons. They have a ceramic heating element under the metal tip. When using your Hakko aka fader I have found that it tastes best if you don't ever actually touch what your heating with the element. Once it's hot you only have to hover it near what you want heated to get a good hit. I love a Hakko hit of the fresh trics off of a bowl of herb, it's so tasty and it seems to get you so much higher. I use the 25W Hakko :rasta:

if your Hakko is new I would burn it off for at least 30 min before I used it. I have seen people drop there buble or oil right onto the ceramic. If you look at Jumps pic it looks like he has done this.. Jump if i'm wrong please don't hesitate to correct me.

The Hakko and Herb Irons look like the way to go. I ordered the piece for the Volcano for concentrates, has anyone used this?

Maybe a dumb question but why do you take off the metal tip of the soldering iron ? My guess would be something to do with taste maybe ?

Was surprised the herb iron is so expensive. I saw a similar ignitor half that size. Thought they were in the $30 to $40 range but couldn't find a link for this thread.

Weller makes soldering irons with a temp dial. They probably have ceramic tips too. Probably 2x the price of the herb iron.

I am pretty sure that Herb iron and the Fader are both just a Hakko element put into another holder is all. A Hakko is about $20 or so from Fry's for the 25W. They do have other Hakko irons for more and less but I used a buddies 25W before I got one and just got the same one. It's had just the right amount of heat to not overheat your herb.

You take the tip off to expose the ceramic element so the heat transfers better to your ignitable. I have tried it with the tip on to see if it would work but it didn't with the 25W :rasta:

Metal tip increases the inertia of the process. Open ceramic heater with no metal parts, heats up and cools down much faster.
I have another one soldering iron, also with a ceramic heater, without the digital display of temperature, but with the option of very rapid heating.
picture.php

It is equipped with a button that, instead of regular 20 watt runs forced heating 200W, which warms it from cold to operating temperature in seconds.
I have seen people drop there buble or oil right onto the ceramic.

I'm doing exactly as you suggested.
In contrast to the titanium plate, a ceramic heater has no a flat platform, and it evaporates about 0.01 grams at a time,
so small that probably will not hurt even a pregnant teenage :).

Greater dab does not have time to evaporate and drips down on the padded mirror.

In those pictures above, I illustrated the different nature of the evaporation of absolute amber, depending on the temperature of the heater.
I think the temperature of the heater distinguishes the process of sublimation from the combustion.

I cracked my pipe a couple of days ago, just when things were going so good. I found another one, but it is harder to see what I am doing.

AFAIK, many smokers take of the metal tip for a matter of health safety...they consider that heated metal could "transfer" some bad things to the smoke while ceramic stay "neutral" and safe...I remember this from threads where smokers were looking for the "safer" lighting, avoiding all butane, matches etc...finicky isn't? I remember the ultimate safe heating source was the sun & a magnifying glass...

I bought this pipe for smoking full melt. I am going to get a torch today and was wondering how hot to get the the bowl, or how long do you hold a torch on it?

Kushed_,
Hakko is a soldering iron with a ceramic heater, roughly like this

I want that glass tube with a pad on the end! I'd use it in place of the RooR shotgun pipe I use as what I think you guys call a 'whip.' I intended on using my Hakko FX-888 without the copper/steal tip like jump117, but the ceramic element just repeatedly heats quickly and cools quickly due to feedback from the temperature sensor, useless, so I tried dabbing right off the metal tip and whammy...ordered a wide flat replacement tip (T18-C5) and have been satisfied since.
