Thanks man, I think its a pre-Soviet Afgan too. The guy throwing it away was a rookie grower that got it from a buddy, he was throwing everything away because of spidermites and black spot. I still have the original mom and I crossed her to Willie Nelson as well :)

Lookin' good mummycat!~

I have a very HIGH interest in this pre80 strain you saved. Have you figured out what you're going to do with her yet as far as breeding goes?

That is a valuable plant for breeding or just smoking. I love the old Afghan hash plants.

I made some Willie Nelson x pre-80 seeds and a bunch to a friend to test indoors. Most plants were beautiful hybrids with nothing really special about them but one plant (out of 10 or 12) had a really strong fruit candy smell. The next cross will probably be to pure haze

Those are some interesting choices mummycat, why are you picking stable but almost opposite parents? Pictures of your willie nelson cross? I'd really like to see how those came out for you.

I guess because I'v always wanted to grow something like MonkeyHaze.

I crossed her to Willie thinking that the fruity character of both might make something cool and that the stretch of Willie might be good for Pre-80

I have a couple plants of (Cali-o)(DC) x (ChemD)(C99), maybe if I get a male I'll cross her to that, I also have some Maui pollen in the freezer :)

What would you cross her to?

Not sure Mummycat I would have to grow her myself to have a more educated guess as to what I would cross it too.

What is monkeyhaze? Do you have pictures of your willie nelson or the crosses you did?

Sounds pretty interesting hope you do a journal on them!

MonkeyHaze is a cross between DC and Haze

The Willie x Pre-80 plants were tested by a friend of mine in his indoor grow and I unfortunately didn't get any pics but did see them in person quite a few times. They were frosty green plants, the keeper pheno was a little bit shorter. I still have a bunch of seeds from that run

Interesting that it smells of afghan hash, may be a pre 80 Afghani, and looks great...

I'm chuckling to myself about the people who think plants should look bright green at the end of flower lol...

Pampering your crop does not make better weed,
go to Morocco or Afghanistan and look at the plants at the end of their cycle, autumnal colors abound

Nice find, right place at the right time. Cross it with Golden Tiger or a Zamal.

this strain looks great, especially getting her from a garbage can lol. I wish my friend down the street would throw away a plant or two. He has a beautiful old school Willies Wonder that I have been trying to get a cut of for over a year now - he just won't part with it. Oh well, I'll get my own someday.

I hope you keep the pre80's around, looks like a great plant to cross, although you know that already. If you have any more pic's I would love to see them. Good luck mate!

I hear great things about that WW strain, I think there's a club in Vancouver that vends an old cut of that. I'll take some more pics of her today

Mummy, you appear to be blessed! I didn't know the IC had so many people knowledgeable on the appearance of pre-1980's Afghani plants. :tiphat:

Joking aside, good looking plant. Even if the chance of determining the origins are smaller than a snowball's chance in hell.

lol. Doesn't matter what she is because there's no way to ever know anyway. I'm sure if it were in fact a Pre-Soviet Afgan Sam would say it has "mongrel sativa blood in it" or something.

Strange name, but that's exactly what was written on the container clear as day. Whatever she is, she's pretty damn good, the smell keeps you standing there. I'll keep her for now :)
