they're all good...except these 2...

hello friends. my year has gone pretty good so far...already "weeded" out the males, and most of my girls are coming along great.
except these 2. they are growing slow, and the leaves are super thin. they just look sick. i wouldnt care a ton but they are in the best, most sun shined spot out of all of them! i want them to change, and quick!
is it a deficiency? it doesn't look like anything i've seen online. i hit them with your basic miracle gro fertz every other watering. i usually switch to fox farm big bloom during flowering. thanks guys

How often you watering, and how much?
How many hours of direct sunlight are they getting?
What strain?

If it's not overwatered or over-rained on, it might just need some nitrogen. If it's locked out, it just started because your plant isn't doing too bad, it looks fairly healthy, although the pic is tiny on my laptop.

I would agree with the nitrogen, but can't without knowing specifics.
IF it is a nitrogen deficiency, it will need hit hard and fast.

I took a closer look at your pic and see yellowing leafs on the bottom of the plant, but the plant at the top of the pic shows some browning from the leaf stem that appears to be working its way down the leaf fingers(?)

By "basic miracle gro fertz" I assume it's 20-20-20, Is this right?
How much miracle gro are you mixing to a gallon of water?

Are you growing directly in native soil? Amended soil? Or a special mix?

The reason I'm asking all of these questions is because I don't want to give you advice that will kill your plants. It could be nitrogen deficiency, or it could be something else...

I would use some neem oil spray to combat whatever is eating on your leafs tho.

Also, there appears to be a 3rd plant in the pic, just right of the bottom plant, it appears to be indica dominant (going by the one leaf that I can see).

IF you have a nitrogen deficiency, you will need to act on it right now, like today, because your running out of time fast. High nitrogen water soluble ferts can be added for another week and 1/2.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I would say they get about 8 hours of direct sunlight. maybe a smidge more.
We had a ton of rain about 2 weeks ago, so I wasn't able to fertalize a ton...but since then, no rain. I've been watering about twice a week, once with my Miracle Gro 20-20-20 (one scoop per gallon and half of water), the other just pure pond water.
It's native soil they are growing in. I just dug a hole, chopped up the dirt to be soft and fine, then put them back in. Ohio gold.
There is a 3rd plant in the picture, and thats the funny thing. There are 4 lined up right there, and the other two look healthy...they maybe aren't growing fast, but they look healthy.
Out of 11 plants, these are the only 2 that look this stingy. I forget the strain name I asked my buddy that got me the seeds, but I know they are all the same strain.
I'll get going on the nitrogen today if you think thats a good idea...any suggestions on what to buy/look for?

Try this
One heaping teaspoon teaspoon of Ammonium Nitrate (36-0-0) and one heaping teaspoon of Miracle Gro (20-20-20) to a gallon of water and shake the hell out of it.

Give each of the smaller two plants one gallon (each) of the mixture, and do it slowly so it will soak into the ground instead of running off. This could take as long as 15 to 30 minutes per plant.

Do this during your regular fert schedule for the next two weeks.
You want to see them start growing at a rate of 1 inch per day, but make sure to stop using the Ammonium Nitrate after two weeks (and thats pushing it to the max).

You are using pond water? That could be one of the problems. I just pH'ed a little pond that has been my a watering hole for one of my od plots.

It was 8.5 pH! Watch out!

Once again guys, thanks for the advice.
I borrowed my buddies ph tester a couple years ago and i could have sworn it was around 6.0...but to be safe when I went to buy the nitrate, i got a new tester and some ph down just to be safe.
The ph level was around 9.0 maybe higher! Stupid me.
I fertalized them hardcore around 330 today, but a bad storm came in around 6. I wanted to give them something though, since i feel like they haven't gotten anything and its supposed to rain the next 3 days...
Do you think that 2 hour period did anything for them? Or was it all washed away? Next chance I get im gonna blast them again. Fingers crossed, and thanks again.

The rain probably helped to get the nitrogen on down to the root system.
Careful with that fert recipe tho. I use it about every 5 to 6 days during veg, and July 4th will be my last high N application.

Ya pond water and stream water always seems to have some funky Ph levels. I'm glad you have started to solve the issue, adjusting the Ph of the water and getting some balanced ferts on them.

This thread is full of good information and answers.
:respect: respect to everyone who has helped ErnestHemingway.
The best I can do for now, I'll come back and do it right as soon as I get my post count up.

Glad you figured that out mang. I will probably have to follow some of the same advice.
I mixed in some of my homemade ferts and they are fairly acidic. Mixed that with 8-8.5 water and hoped for the best, but this is the only plot that is giving me problems, imagine that!
It has rained quite a bit lately and steady every other day for 10 days, so that helps, but I may have to pH down the pond water from now on when it gets hot[fingers crossed].

I went out and looked at them today and they sure looked grateful for the fertz I gave them on sunday. the plan is to hit them with the same mixture tomorrow...but i was wondering what i should switch to from now till flowering? Dd, you say today, the 4th, will be your last high n dosage, so do you jist start giving them flowering fertz right now??
Also, when would someone say the deadline to clone is? Or has that already passed?
Pictures tomorrow :)

Personally... I will be mainly watering until I see flowering, and then go with a low N- high P-K, starting with a weak solution and feeling out how each plant responds... adjusting strength accordingly.
Then there's some home made organic "syrups" I use when the need arises.
(I mix the syrups in gallon jugs and let them "cook" in the sun)

But I'll be sticking with plain water until flowering really begins... Unless they look hungry.

I'm still cloning... and outdoors.

Going for a silverback 60/60 style grow on a utility cut this year.

Plants in my best spot looks like this, they are hybrids, and i was expecting much more, but i am great-full for whats there. Thinking of hitting them with pure nitrogen.

Its never too late to take a cutting, but the longer you let them go the harder it will get, once flowering sets in i think the best way is to air layer them so the cut will have roots by the time you take it indoor to reveg.(saves you a lot this way)

Hello hello hello :)
So I went out today and did my second high nitrogen fert...they all look GREAT! That PH down really did the trick! I just feel kinda stupid because the problem was so easy to fix and the relative small size of them is my punishment for being so stupid.
Sorry for the quality of the pictures...
The first is 2 healthy plants, no problem. the one on the right i cut a clone from so thats why its funky looking.
the second pic are the plants that I was concerned about at the beginning of this thread. they look very healthy...still small, but I hope DD's idea of an inch per day is correct with these fertz. if it is, i have no problem.
the last is the 3 biggest. well, two are big. the small one is being overshadowed by the other two, and im considering cutting a BIG clone from it so it can breathe a little bit at a different spot I've scoped out.
Let me know what you guys think!

NOTE: I'm having trouble uploading pictures :( The only one that loaded was the 3rd.
I'll have to try again when I get back from work. sorry

hello hello! i dont want to create a full grow diary since i prefer to sit and watch everyone else talk rather than post a ton on my own...but i did want to share a little info on the progress of my grow since my last post.
i adjusted the PH of my water and soil, and for the most part, they look extremely healthy. as of recently, 2 of the plants have started to have yellow leaves near the bottom again. i figured some of the yellow is from the past when they weren't getting enough N due to the PH balance being off, but I threw some N and Mg on them and the leaves are still yellow. here are the two I'm talking about.https://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=39222&pictureid=927440
I took a couple clones from some lower branches of some of my plants, since I usually cut off useless, lower branches so the plants can concentrate on the top. I didn't want to just throw them away! so i put them in a couple pots. they won't get that big but...why not? :) https://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=39222&pictureid=927436
heres some of the other ones. only one is flowering, which I'm concerned about. my buddy that gave me the seeds said they were early flowering, and that is clearly not the case. I live around 41degrees North, so...they need to start. like. right now.
thanks for looking guys.
