I would like to learn more about nutrients.

I'm looking for information on the basics such as schedules and feeding times. I'm not even sure what the numbers are for on the front of some labels, the 10-15-10 for instance. I know there's a ton of different products available that need to be added at different times but I don't know where to start.

I have a few God Bud strains planted and I know they're hungry for a lot of nutes, the more the better but isn't there a risk of 'burning' your plants?

If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Keep it simple. You dont need all the crazy additives. Jorge Cervantes book is a good beging. You can buy it any bookstore. Pay cash dont worry about it. When you first
starting out, the free magazines at the hydro shop are cool. Google is always usefull
N-P-K are what the numbers represent

I'm planting in soil. Some sort of Miracle Grow Seed starter mix.

Not sure what you mean by Lucas Formula. Is that a product? or a line of different products to be used at different times?

Lucas formulas is a ratio of General Hydroponics nutrients. You should be able to google it and get what you are looking for.

Please do not use MG. It is shit. Have you already planted in it? Are you starting seeds or clones? For soil look for Roots Organic or Fox Farm or Empire Builder. People here are very helpful but try reading some of the stickys for beginers. It will at least help you ask more accurate questions so we can give you better answers.

I second the idea of skipping Miracle Grow. It is crap, crap, crap.

I would also say that you should try something like Advanced Nutrients since you can start out with just 25% less than the bottle says, and then add more nutrients if the plants take them well.

Personally, I've always done this and had no burn problems.

Most Advanced Nutrients products are made in China.

Think about growing ORGANIC.

It's simple. It provides a healthier, higher quality smoke.

You won't need pH or ppm meters or pH up or down.

Some great people in the organic soil forum...check it out.

LOL I disagree I liked Miracle Grow and I hear they have made it better. I have not looked at it for awhile so you could be right about the additives but it's not bad it has what the plant needs .. If you have more cash by all means go for it but if not it's all good. I also like cocoa ,molasses, alphalfa aswell keep it simple headband707:tiphat:

dynagro. All nutrients are provided in 1 bottle.
I emailed Canna and the rep. also said they are complete, but dont label it as so, I forgot what the reason he gave nor did he give me a complete guaranteed analysis... H&G, Canna, and botanicare make good products as well.
The MJ industry is becoming more and more complex, most of it is completly unnecessary. Most nutrient companies just want get their piece of the pie.

You dont need 15 bottles, 15 promises. Just understand the basics of how a plant works and what a plant needs. Not the promises of a salesman trying to sell a product...
Less is more when it comes to feeding...

No better place to learn about nutrients than in the Nutrients/Fertilizers forum.
https://www.icmag.com/ic/forumdisplay.php?f=65643

There's a sticky up top the forum that has nutrient schedules for just about every brand made.
Also check out the K.I.S.S. thread, simplicity at it's best:tiphat:
