got a great deal on a can 150 filter.
an 8" can fan mixed flow is a good match for CFM.

I would rather have a larger 10-12" fan on a speed controller so the fan isn't running wide open and possible noise issues too.
I thought I read a while back that you can't use a standard speed controller that you can pick up for $20-30.
and the 10+12" inlines needed a way more expensive controller?

any can 150 users out there, what are you using?
what are my options for fans for this thing?

hi OB,
If I remember correctly us can use the cheap controllers up to 8"
10 and larger is where the different controller needs to be used... i think?

btw, how is that 150 working for ya?
what size room, and how much juice are you using with the vortex... 50%.. 75%

also comparing the pro 150 to the can 150 filter, the can is rated for a 630 cfm fan
and the pro is more than double that @ 1300 cfm.
the two filters are very close in Length/Wid.

why such a big diff?

I got about a year on a Can100 with a 10" max fan. (might have shortened the life with some high humidity)

Replaced the Can100 with a Can125 and it's still working well at 1 1/2 years. Probably going to purchase a replacement soon....

In another room I have a 12" Can-Lite filter w/ 12" Can-Fan that works well until week 6. At that point I add another recirculating filter to the room. Less than a year on the Can-lite filter.

The only good thing about the Can-Lite filters is that I could hang it from the ceiling by myself, other than that go with a traditional can filter!

Oh, and I'm running both the 10" max fan and 12" can fan on a Titan Controls Mercury 4 speed controller. They are pretty much at full speed with lights on and 25-40% with lights off.

thanks for the info ned,
I'd pass on the can lite also and just go for the something *heavier* myself.
I can also get a very good price on the can 125 but for the $40 difference
I'll go with the C 150
