Feminized autoflowers - a little rant

this thread is interesting, all the things/different thoughts on breeding & AF.... i too agree that all the breeders should continue selling both fem and reg. seeds.

In the end if they dont people like us that want to breed their own strands making personalized ginetics, how are we going to continue at all. eventually these ways are going to limit everyone and its like they "breeders" are playing god and interfearing with mother natures natural ways

My karma must be running better than usual today. While digging through some old boxes I came across the last 5 seeds from the LR2 run a few years ago. Maybe I'll try xing with the diesel ryder. Decisions, decisions. Oh well, that's next winter.

The seeds I made were all right... but the problem with autoflower is they perform better under very stable and specific conditions. A few people were able to master growth and production, but I challenge somebody to say that Autoflowers are more stable when being transplanted and moved and repotted or whatever. Autoflowers have this whole thing about you should be really careful about damaging them because they wont grow at maximum potential.. and they seem to have very minimal but specific nutrient needs. I wish the seeds I made were worth the time and effort to flower them... its too risky for me if I get 50% males and a few super stretchy phenos. Ive never bred straight bud because you don't have to. Rant over... I just want people to breed some AF that can be trucked from a tent to the swamp or wherever a dude likes to plant. This year its looking good for outdoor AF stuff from what I see, but those seeds are costly. Damn

IMO fems just aren't worth it for autos. You pay a big premium per seed. The yield per plant is relatively low. You can't clone 'em and you can't do a seed run.

So why buy 'em?

Right now, autoflowering feminized seeds are unstable hybrids anyway, so seeding them is a huge chore.

I made seeds from a Diesel Ryder from the Joint Doctor, and only 2 were autoflowering. I don't know whether they had the same taste or potency because it was too late in the season to grow them out, outdoors.

If they were IBLs that would be different, but why go through the hassle of seeding them?

Here's the LR2 seed run from '08. Nothing special about soil or nutes. Home-brew pro mix concoction, Fox Farm ferts. I thought they were very forgiviing, and the smoke was very satisfying; not up to mind-melting ass-kicking standards but it was a real quality high. A good bowlful would put you in very pleasant place without dragging your dick in the dirt.

Folks who grew out the seeds were happy. They weren't all AF but a good proportion were, and the results made a lot of people happy. It's nice to spread the joy.

Hell, I'm not going to argue that AF's are perfect but they do have their place, and I think they're kind of fun. Making seeds is a hoot, even if you're a sub-pollen-chucker dude like me.
