The last tray of the indica and sativa strains comes out on Independence day. I made it pretty because it was the last. 6 matched indica clones forming 2 squares witha sativa in the center of each. The indica vegged 3 weeks longer than the sativa.
The first three mixed containers were by accident and grew very well. This one was planned with the lights in mind. Still a month out, staying symmetrical and growing fat.

Those long day plants sharing the veg room need lotsa light, holding firm at 2126 watts over 6 square feet (2' x 3'), this is giving that little papaya plant a real push.

714 watts 30% blue LED, 800 watts Mastercolor CMH, 256 watts 2% UVB, 128 watts 10% UVB, and 128 watts of Florasun to get some red on the bottom of the leaves.

The veg room just got brigher than the bud room, 354 watts per square foot. I checked the meter readings outside, it is merely a clear hot summer day at lunch time.

24/7 babysitting, no room for errors at all, finding out how long the razors edge can be walked. Hope a fan don't break.

It lives

It lives

Well, darn. I looked for this thread in the new LED section. But since "LED" is not in the title it did not get moved, oh well.

Meanwhile the lone papaya in the high energy 18/6 room has adjusted to the light, still does not like it. Pic shows canoe leaves.
The clones on the meager 100 watts/square foot table are going to get quite a bit more root before moving up. No different from any other clones at this point.

New plant, new room, tune up will take a few grows. Used to take quite a few, getting better at reading the plants.

Pics of the last of the old plants, getting closer to harvest.

Just to be different the pictures are of a lower bud on the stretched sativa. This is a container bumped for the new long day plants. It went through all three rooms looking for a home. You know the homeless, scraggly and skinny.

Anyhow, started low and backed off with the same lower buds in every picture. Being scraggly and stretched the buds show better, not very many fan leaves (not very many branches) in the way.

Whoa, not sure where that last picture came from, looks like a papaya with 12 days under 350 watts/square foot with other plants that actually need that much. Looks healthy and growing.

The papaya mixed into prior posts fits the timing on a new contest.

For those interested; the papaya is separated out for full spectrum pictures, and will be documented throughout the LED veg room and the LED bud room.

Expecting explosive growth with 350 watts per square foot 30% blue veg table. Then July first it goes into the 10% blue, 5% UVB bud room for the contest.

First time with this strain, first time in a contest. And I have time to do this.

Today it starts in the contest forum. Woo hoo.

You have a great attitude about the cancer man. I do hope life gives you more time though! Decline is part of life, but if we just gave up we'd never make it anywhere. You have way more herb to grow!

Have you tried juicing cannabis? If you haven't, I recommend you look it up. Seems to be helping a lot of people! My advice is to keep that blood-cannabinoid level off the scale. Should be fun anyway :)

I also didn't realize you have autism. As someone who also has autism(Asperger's), I've definitely faced some challenges. I didn't get a diagnosis until I was 28, and that was only a few years ago. It has advantages, but other people make being autistic really difficult. Not all their fault obviously, but the urge to flee into the wilderness I think is pretty common for the autistic. Alaska sounds great for that!

The last of the bagseed plants are coming out soon. A trio of sativa that got stretched getting moved around too much.
And the whoop de do finale: twin sativa with a hex of indica in the same container, had good luck with pairs. This works also, whew.

Enough room to walk around and turn off the LED's and take pictures from the middle.

Sativa down

Sativa down

The sativa came out today, of course it was a surprise. The knock on the door was a trimmer, wondered if she had the day wrong? No, it was me, two more showed up a bit later. Asses and elbows for a bit, no camera then.

Now the camera comes to mind. Pictures as it is right now.

Front view of lower buds, hanging upper buds. Rear view on untrimmed buds, trimmed buds hanging, clips show.
And a recent picture of the middle of the plant.

Solstice, the sun went down for less than three hours. It was shining in the door on the sativa so nicely another picture got taken.

There are seven buds left to be trimmed by visitors and added to those already hanging. Guest trimmer's only do the cream. This is the .37 gpw spoken about. Never really showed where the number came from and why it is so low.

The bottom 1/3 to 1/2 is for oil extraction, very premium oil, no shake involved.

The LED's (reason for this thread) are more than powerful enough, obvious enough.
The surround is used no matter what overheads, HID room had it also. The UVB needs to be on the side and needs to be powerful.
I stopped just now and took an outside full sun clear sky UVB reading, 187 uw, by high noon it will reach 265 uw. The surround provides 120 uw at the top buds, 140 uw at the lower buds.
Less than this does not have the creeper effect, more makes the plants smaller than acceptable, this is a compromise.

Umol (photon count per second) on the leaf with LED runs 450 (bottom) through 800 (top).
Umol from HID for similar growth ran 350 (bottom) through 1050 (top) due to less penetration and less useful spectrum.
Umol everywhere with high noon sun is 1900, six o'clock is quitting time and drops below 300.

2/3 the electricity for the LED compared to the HID and better bud distribution, win and win.

Too many projects, not enough room. One of the new papaya clones got put in the 12/12 room with only 1 week veg time. With the 17 day veg time plants in the same room we will see what difference that extra 10 days makes at the end of harvest. Looks to be considerable.

The bud is on the papaya mom. For being half dead from spider mites then losing half the remaining leaves to insecticide while being transplanted twice she is doing well.

The bud structure appears superior to both the previous plants grown here. The healthy plants are not showing bud yet, but expectations have greatly expanded.

Cooling is becoming a major issue now that the 18/6 room has been bumped to 380 watts/square foot. Until what the system needs is figured out, existing equipment is making do.

20 square foot intake and 40 square foot overhead exhaust, air movement needs to be massive but very slow. Sequences of intake and exhaust fans. When the numbers are all collected it will be made prettier.

The shot from above to show all the light going to that 2' x 3' area.
