my big tent is coco on blumats but wanted a bumber crop in between with as little effort as possible and almost nothing invested. bought maxibloom and rockwool. thats it. @ a 45$ investment ATM. got the rockwool on clearance, 2.79 each x 10 and a bag of maxi at ~15. lets do this!!

2X4 tent with a flood table. maxibloom nutes @ 7 grams per gallon and little bit of drip clean for good measure and thats it! nothing else besides ph adjusters. trying to go the KISS route and show people that you can do good with almost nothing invested. could u get more by spending a shit ton of money on the full advanced line?? probably, but thats not what this is about. gonna run 3-400 watts or whichever the tent can handle temp wise. really not gonna put much effort into it at all lol.
4 different strains ATM but soon to be about 9 when the new seeds show up :) lets see how maxi can handle a multi-strain/multi-stage grow. right now there's FMS AK47(super cheesey indica pheno), FMS WW X BB, S@nnies herijuana and S@nnies jackberry kush. barneys farm critical og, moscas tsi fly, moscas sweet tooth and some freebies soon to follow.

these have gotten a little bit of veg time under T8's but nothing too major. most havent even grown much at all yet. want to keep tall single cola stature to maximize footprint.

was checking out that "veg+bloom" stuff and im hearing good things. i might give it a try after the maxi runs out and see what they like better. its about 3X as expensive so im only gonna buy a pound and see how it runs

Nice..

I've done similar small tent grows to offset my larger crop..nearly the same goal...KISS

I use 3x3 medium-less ebb&flow 36 plant / maxibloom at 7g per gal / and maybe opened the tent to take a look once a week...sometimes I went longer..

Thats it.. worked great. While its good to pay attention to your girls its also oddly rewarding to smoke some of the finest knowing the whole crop took about 120 minutes of my time over the course of 8 weeks. :)

KISS FTW!

so im experiencing some burns/defs and im not sure why.... ive never run maxibloom before so im not sure what the issue is. looks to me like ph or calcium. i havent been changing out the nutes completely, only topping off the res. im thinking this may be the issue since it doesnt completely dissolve all the way and if i keep topping off its only gonna get stronger and stronger until they cant take it anymore

can you try to predilute the maxibloom in warm water before you put it into your res.

I went to harbor fr8 and got a drill and a paint mixing bit to mix up my jacks,
Drill $30
bit $8
saves you alot of time and gets them fully mixed.

Two things:
1) I fill a 5gal half full with hot water outta the tap, add my maxi, then stir with plastic spoon. Its not that hard to get it to mix up.

and
2) I find the KISS method of 7grams to be a little hot for me. I usually go 4.5 or 5 per gallon. Try lowering your PPM and see if you're still seeing what you're seeing.

Yea.. I'm guessing an accumulation of salts in your blocks. RW is notorious for this if your never top feeding it w/ run-off. Hydroton is your friend in ebb&flow as it gets exactly what your feeding it pretty much.

I'd suggest hand drenching them all by hand or with a wand or something from the TOP. Do this until the run-off of the block is the same/close ppm to what your putting in... discard all of this run-off water and re-mix at 7g per Gal as usual.. or maybe diluted for a few days and then increase back to 7g per Gal to avoid deficiencies.

I dont think 7g per Gal is to strong per se.. I'd say its just that its accumulated in your RW block since your flooding them and never giving them a top feed to rinse the salt build-up. In my opinion RW is better suited for top feed rather then ebb & flow for this reason. You've likely got an excessive amount of salts near the top of your block where your water level stops during a fill cycle.

* if you dont have a EC/ppm meter just flush the shit out of em from the top with pH adjusted water. Do this until you're getting lots of run-off out of the bottom of the cube.. then do it some more. Shouldnt be hard since your already set up with a tray and lower res to catch it. Discard this run-off as its likely high EC.

So here's my question about the dry Maxibloom...

I run a 55 gal res. for flower, which means I'd require 385 grams of Maxibloom per res change. I also hand water 6" rockwool cubes in veg and need 10 gallons of nutes every day.. which obviously is 70 grams of Maxibloom.

This sounds like quite a bit of work compared to the lucas formula I'm running ATM with GH liquid nutes... Any way I could mix a large batch of concentrated nutes with a known water/nute ratio and keep it on hand to make my mix?

Thanks,

shred

I ran MaxiBloom for a while and eventually returned to Micro/Bloom so that I can mix up faster.

I did the math and the cost of Micro/Bloom when purchased in larger jugs was only a tiny amount more then using the Maxibloom. The Maxibloom was cheaper.. but not by much.

I'll spend the extra buck something per 55 gal res to not have to dissolve large amounts of powder.

I'm interested however in shredGnar's question regarding pre-mixing a concentration of maxibloom and using it in a strong liquid form. I know dudes who dilute Floranova Bloom 1:3 and use triple the amount (24mL/Gal).. seems to work fine for em so I dont see why maxibloom couldnt be pre-dissolved into a small QTY of RO water.

hell, if it's only a bit cheaper to run micro and bloom I'll probably stick with that. super easy mixing and my pH is perfect literally every time.
stable in the res as well, even with RO water and no cal-mag
