lots of Jealousy in this thread.
Bottom Line: Cali has the largest diversity of cannabis in the world.
So many people grow out here its crazy, I was recently gifted some acapolco gold from a classmate for letting him copy homework. Bout 1 in 5 people I meet is growing weed, some first timers, some og's in the game. some order seeds, some use clubs, and many get cuts underground. I met a dude in the hills who only grows mikado from seed, been making new seeds every year for the last 9 years, straight dope! A friend of mine i put on got a real deal cut of atf from one of her friends who grow, some of the dopest shit i smoked. Cali got a lot of hype, but thats just marketing due to an overcrowded grow community, they need somethin to keep up sales. Step out of the city where there are no clubs and you will find some crazy shit you never heard before that'll have you walkin in the clouds. Also those hype strains your talkin about are hyped for a reason, exceptional strains, ones that stand out in the crowd for there taste and high.
You can find everything in cali, from indica to sativa, from amsterdam and europes best strains, canadas best strains, the rest of the us's, and cali's finest. From the hobby growers, med patients, big timers, and those just trying to pay the bills.
Nobodys fuckin with cali.
Let the Jealous hate, when what they should do is come out here and enjoy it for a minute. Remember Cali fought for these rights, we didnt just get handed the shit.
Bottom Line: Cali has the largest diversity of cannabis in the world. Period.

You tell em brother Moe - all others gettin sloppy seconds from the center of the canna-universe :p

Mr. C, a good question, but most popular to whom? The end user, the middle man, the indoor grower, the out, etc? For example Blue Dream might not be on the list if we removed the outdoor grower component, you see where I'm heading with it. Complex are the maths that go into filling the shelves of California's dispensaries. -T

The best thing about Cali is no matter what your top 5 is, you can find it here! So much to choose from, your top 5 could change monthly and you would never have to smoke the same thing twice. Now that truely is the garden of weeden!

Good point Tom, couldn't agree more. I wouldn't touch Blue dream with a ten foot pole. Grew it for 5 years (before it got popular) and had a great time with it, now its been sullied.

I was just attempting to get a general idea of the most popular... and the conclusion is that OG kush is king.

Honestly my real motivation is to make a couple crosses in the near future and trying to understand what the general populous likes most. I'll most likely include SFV OG in my upcoming projects.

The "OG Kush" line as a whole is prepotent, ie tends to pass along its valuable traits to its progeny - it breeds relatively true, and therefore has a very high breeding value. And that particular cut, the SFV, exhibits the broadest range of environments in which it thrives, eg it does well both inside and out, therefore, an excellent choice as parenatal input ime.

at the same time, I do not believe the lab tests will show it to be of the same genetics as other OG's, I suspect it has some sour d in its makeup (not to be confused with chem which I don't believe to be related to either), and probably hence why it covers a broader range of environments,. The lab testing will blow the lid of the jig me thinks, but none the less, it breeds true, and is an excellent breeding plant.

you brought cuts into socal?

Yes. Well I suppose I should get around to telling the public PC version but not on this thread. How the cut was released was not on purpose but once it was it kinda just got like a drunk slut at a college party, everynody who wants a taste, well u know.... Moral to the story is if you hear someone got your closely held cut dont run off at the mouth w threats being a big shot or someone might show your girl a good time n pass her around.

Dude I run into some great Blue Dream. IMO it's gotten a bad rap due to how many got into growing it and the shitty job they did. Most Cali outdoor is crap or subpar IMO. Nomaad did a great job when he was outdoors running it. A local friend grew some stellar BD last year. I picked up some fantastic BD out of Mendo a few months back and all my friends loved it. Grower did a great job with it.

I think a lot of people grow GDP because it's easy to grow or something. It's not that great imo

.... and yeah Blue Dream is awesome

Couldn't disagree more on both counts. GDP is one of the best smokes of all time and I wouldn't touch blue dream with a 10' pole. The high is great and all, but there is no reason to grow it, nobody wants it.

Now let's move you outside for a minute. Okay you have 99 holes, you can grow 350 units of GDP @ $1800 vs 700 of Blue Dream @ $1500. Okay go! :)
