Best vertical socket assembly??

I need some new socket assemblys that fit my hydrofarm ballasts do you all have any favorites?I should probably keep on with my cooltubes stacked one on the other, my back looks tattoed from the burn scars but we all know about the heat with the cooltubes, I do like them as I can bump into them without injury and I'm notoriously clumsy but I need some new sockets for several of my 600's.Thanks in advance!:)

I have a radical suggestion... Turn the lamps off before you go in the room... or use a green light. ;) Most of the folks around here are gonna tell you the same.

Ha! Indeed a radical suggestion but sometimes I tend to rush a bit, although 75% of time I do turn them off...

I had a feeling the Sunlight Supply unit was pretty good.I had one around and hung it yesterday.I have some hydrofarm adapters for whatever comes down the pike, nothing ever fits just right.I'd love to pick up some more of those units, the one I have is 10yrs old, easy. Nice Craven, I see some Diesel in there!! This plant shrunk from the angle when I took the pic but this is one plant sourrounded buy verts of all sizes...

Chaco when I've done Vert I used the ones that craven showed by sun light supply. Was gonna ask tho how many inches around are those cool tubes? 4''? I've never used one but my first thought to cool the thing would be buy a 4'' in-line duct fan and connect one or two on each end of the cool tube.... I cool my raptors with one on each end, they have ones at home depot's made by suncourt, and they come in 4, 6, and 8 inches sizes, not that pricey either.

I use the cooltubes like lanterns and hang those cheap 6' inline duct fans(the cooltubes are 6") onto the bottom with some ducting and a clamp.Recently I've been hanging lamps on top of eachother with the same fan on the bottom, the lanterns are convenient and easy to move, its not the greatest thing since the wheel but lemme tell ya' it grows some weed...:)

Chaco, nothing throws the lumens around like a 1k vert bulb, blinding stuff. Also are you saying that those 6'' duct fans aren't efficient enough to cool the lights in the cool tubes? cause I was planning on getting one for the summer and running it like that, but if I am understanding your correctly I may want to hold off til the fall...

Usually with a 1000W bulb I use a fan with at least 265cfm.More than likely I use a 6" high output @465cfm's but that may be overkill, but it may be 2 lamps too.

the solution i came up with to keep from bumping the lights (burned my hair once lol) is to take some hardware cloth and make a tube with it about 2' in diameter. then take 2 pieces of dowels, or something to make a + with (i used the metal prong legs broken off a politicians sign) and slide them through the hardware cloth, and set it on top on my socket. i'll see if i can find a pic of it. the HW cloth is about 2' wide so it'll cover a 1k bulb and then some. this enables me to not have to worry about me or the plants directly touching the bulb. we'll hit the HW cloth and feel the heat 1st. it'll also act as a porous tube for air flow over the light. just my $0.02...

dunno what happened to the bulb for it to be smokey like that other than 2 years of use. it's a growbright bulb from htg, and it was the 1st bulb i bought for the 1k. it's been going pretty much daily for the 2 years i've had the 1k, and still works great. definitely dependable even though i've lost some lumen output. i swapped that one out for a new 1 last month, but i'm still planning on using it when i can get the 2nd half of my room filled with plants. it's gonna have to last a couple more months for me before it ends up as a back up.

if money hadn't been so damn tight the last couple years i'd have a stock pile by now, but it is what it is and i plan on getting a new 1 so they are both up to par soon, but it won't be until at least next week. i'm still trying to finish my room, and a few other parts (a ballast, 2 timer, and a router for the laptop burnt up by a lightning strike) have taken precedence atm, but i'm getting there.... :) only reason it'd be a backup is because it's hard lighting 72(ish) plants with cfl's lol. didn't mean to jack the thread....
