After perusing other threads here I decided to dive in to the DIY green house. I'll follow with more details but here are some pictures for now.

I bought 2 used frames off of craigslist for $25 and used one for parts to reinforce the main frame roof.
The material covering is Solexx 3mm and expensive @ $5.00/ft. but with the kind of wind I deal with the Solexx will out live the GH plastic.
The frame is 10 X 15. The solexx is secured using furring strips attached to the frame with 1 and 2 hole C supports. (used to secure pipe or conduit to a wall). Lots of grinding, hammering, & cussing.
I did not plan ahead as well as possible due to the use of very powerful pain killing smoke. Kind of doing it as I go, and then figure out there was an easier way of doing it...go figure...
Back to work...doing it solo so sometimes it's a real bitch especially with the wind and rain.

Hey doublejj thanks, it was your inspiration to go with the carport frame. It's funny I was reading your thread, I think, when someone said 'good luck finding a cheap frame' and within a few minutes found the frames on craigslist. $25 for the one and the fellow threw in the second for the hell of it...

Nice work, Joe. Doing it solo is indeed challenging, but I love it because you have to use your melon more than your muscles. Looking forward to seeing what goes on inside!

Thanks auto.
I've been wanting to shut the lights off for a long time. Damn electric bill anyway... I was concerned when the counter person told me only 70% transmission. I need the Solexx for privacy and when you look at the shadow it makes ya kinda think hmmm. Well, come inside when the sun is shining, you feel like your in a bright florescent tube. No real sun bright spot but the entire sheet lights up, walk out into the sun and I'm totally blinded for a minute due to it being so bright inside. More to come..

Warming

Warming

So it's finally starting to warm up, hit 23*f last night and panic ensued as I had to set up some propane heat so I didn't kill everything their second night in the solar motel. Now I've got to open the retractable roof to let out the humidity and heat.

I don't get the rising sun but by 9:00 am the room is filled with light and there is nothing to the west so sun until it sets on the horizon.

So I'm in the hydro store the other day looking for parts to set up the Blumats when I come across a whole bunch of used airpots that were just brought in, doesn't look like they were used very much. Well I struck a deal and got them 'dirt' cheap...

In this picture you can see where I attached 4 of them together to get a big pot. I had to dig a hole to set it in because I know it's gonna get massive. Gonna try to get 6 of these in here. :dance013:

Using the wood furring strips to attach the Solexx is a great idea. My outdoor grow room uses a canopy frame that is trimmed to fit a 16' X 16' area right next to my home.

I am welded the entire frame and added angle bracing to support the chain link "walls", and I think I am going to use your system to attach the shade cloth on the outside.

Those are some great looking plants.

Do you have any problems with bugs?

Outdoor growing will not be a reality for me unless I move far, far away. So I guess I'll have to make due with following cool threads like this one. Nice job!

El Piloto: Thanks, I used self tapping screws to secure the tubes together at the joints. The furring strips worked pretty good but still needs an overlapping plate to keep secure. staples, hot melt glue, then 20 gage sheet metal braces on top of that. I get very big winds.
I have yet to figure out if I had a bug problem or a soil problem. As per the picture below on third day in the solar room I came out to a devastating find. About 25% of the tops had been attacked. I had just transplanted into a new soil/less mix when I moved outside. Some of the plants that suffered were NOT transplanted and were still in their same containers. I have a hand held video microscope specifically designed for agriculture use to ID pests and other goings on. I spent hours and hours looking for critters that might do this, to no avail.

What did happen is that there was a ph problem for about 10 minutes where the blumats dripped 3.6 ph water, but that was immediatly rectified and now stays at 5.9.

The soil was an off brand from Idaho and may have been hot, I don't know. I am not a plant doctor but I do know that these plants need proper care.

About 75% of the crop was completely unaffected, (Thank G)

Nonphixion; yea, odor is a bitch, I'm a renter and my landlord is semi cool because it's a legal gro-op but he tells me he can smell it from the street during flower. The power meter is right out the GH door and I'm always there to greet the meter reader...

Anti; I'm kind of a cripple and I live WAY far out from society, physically and emotionally...works for me as I'm almost always home.

When looking at the big picture above this plant is the one in the upper far left corner. It's in a homemade smart pot and sets 30 inches deep into hole I dug out ie, can't be moved.

Any input on the leaf destruction will be appreciated
thanks for looking...
