I was just curious how strong everybody feeds using PBP? Veg? flower? My organic soil mix has lasted through stretch but now I am wondering how strong I should be mixing my nutes? I have been feeding around 800 ppm for the last 2 waterings (tap comes out at about 260ppm) feel like I could be pushing it more.

I use 500 for veg and boost it to 1000 or 2EC for flower.. I have never gone over 1200ppm or 2.2EC

Also .5

Fogget about how you feel, how do the plants look?..
Never used the veg formula, but for flower ~850-1000ppm max (.5 conversion)..

I used the Botanicare additives for other grows in the past.. Good results.

In general, most folks consider the PBP line to be gentle, compared to other companie;s Base nutes.

The last two Indoor soil runs I used the PBP base nutrients and the whole line, and found the following:

GROW : A fine product. No complaints.

BLOOM Soil Formula: drives down the pH of RO water so low (3.5-4.5) that I am not comfortable
with how much AN pH UP I need to use to get the solution to an acceptable level.

No longer using PBP Bloom, due to the above problem. But I will finish out the gallon of GROW.

No issues with ph for me, but I use tap in addition to Pro-Tekt prior to mixing the final solution..Has worked good, if not great in my garden..No complaints here..

Hammerhead: glad to hear from you. have admired your work for awhile.
I think I will push it to around 1000 next feeding.

How about Sweet? anybody using "sweet raw"? I started it at wk4, anybody see positive results using it b4 then?

epsom salt the same as Sweet? Didn't know that, could I cut it out by adding epsom salts to my soil mix. Always figured I should avoid as many "salts" as I could.

Used the GH manual drop method to test pH, because I could not believe the pen....

I am truly glad you guys have had no challenges with this. I am reporting what I experienced.

My pH dipping too low with PBP Bloom Soil Formula using Reverse Osmosis Water has been echoed by other growers in this area.

Although I can only speak for myself, talking with some talented growers using the Ebb and Grow by CAP - it was very difficult for them to use regular PBP Bloom with RO water.

Not so much an issue when using tap or well water regardless of growing medium.

Sweet is a great item... I use the Original Berry - especially for finishing.. Adds to the flavour as well as a higher amount of Magnesium than other similar products. Carbo Load is good too sometimes.

Never had any PH issues. My tap is great at 50ppm. It does lower the ph. I have not had anything lower then 5.8 that I fix with a very small amount of AN up..

There are some big difference's between Epsom and sweet. Epsom salt is nothing more then Mag Sulfate.

Sweet has Carbohydrates,Organic acids,Vitamins,Amino acids,Esters,Poly phenolic Compounds and Essential secondary and trace elements.

I dont use Either of these but if I did I would use sweet over Epsom Salt thats just me..

Hey lobsterbush, Hammerhead is correct, there are "big difference's between Epsom and sweet" (besides the difference in price)..What I should have stated was that ES is a magnesium supplement..If however I was using a fancy product like 'sweet for the extra carbs and other wonder ingredients, I would replace it with Blackstrap mollasses..
But that's just me!...I like saving money..Not every gardener lives in the land of milk and honey..
Good luck!.

I use PBP with great success.

I run the Grow, Bloom, HydroPlex, Calmag, and Silicia Blast...

I replaced the Sweet for GH FloraNectar because it has way more carbs in it than the sweet does....and I think it does a better job

Hi Lobster friend...

Hi Lobster friend...

lobster friend,

I see someone mentioned molasses. If I can i have a lil input. I have used unsulphered blackstrap molasses Organic. In both chem, and Organic gardens. This particular brand I feel is one of the best as far as nute profiles go. Is Brer Rabbit Blackstrap. Dark purple sticker on it. Nice Cal/Mag ratio, and decent Iron. As well as a decent amount of K...Then you have the carbs, and sugars to help feed the microbes, and other things we can't see unless we have a microscope.

Sorry a bit high. Watch your Ph it may go low with this, but I do Organic gardens mostly with a small chem feed. I do both chem to Organic like I mmentioned, and this is a good product for both. Just an Idea if you decide to use this, or any other molasses. Heat some water on the stove. A small amount, and mix in what would go to your gal or so of water. Then into the jug. Okay maybe stupid, but a little insight I hope. Best with your grows.

Also I see you mentioned Sweet. I have not used that particular one, but A small jug, or two of molasses will last as long for a better cost. Not knocking the Sweet, and others. I have used some, and the molasses. I personally prefer it, and would recommend a try at least once with it. Good luck sea going friend...D
