The Stupa is the Tashi Gomang Stupa in Crestone, Colorado. "The Stupa of Many Auspicious Doors" is named for the 84,000 paths to enlightenment that Buddha described. This stupa is part of the Karma Tryana Dharmachakra Tibetan Buddhist community in Crestone, Colorado. To me the Crestone area is like a "New Tibet", with high, deserty plains encircled by towering ranges of forboding mountains. The San Luis Valley is in the background. I used the editing tools in the Picnik editing suite available on Flickr.com to alter the color density. The beautiful orange-brown Zigurrat is also in Crestone.

I'm including another shot of the Stupa in its entirety.

The screen porch is near my cabin at the western edge of the Galiuro Mountain Wilderness in the San Pedro River Valley. I built it over the space of a year. My wife and I sleep in it as often as possible, especially in the winter. It's one of the simple pleasures in life, great to sleep in a nice down bag with a quilt over you in a semi-protected area. In summer, we time it to visit and sleep out on Monsoon nights when the lightning, thunder, and pounding rain make it Biblical. Then we huddle our cots together with a tarp over us and ride that wave!
