I agree with those saying the government should stay the hell out of everybody's life but here is the deal. This lady probably was told several times by the owner of the tanning salon that the policy is 18 and over or whatever. the mom ignored that and let the kid tan anyways. it would be the same as if the kid was doing something else unsafe that wasn't permitted unless you were an adult and the parents just let the kids do it anyways. Better parenting is always the answer in this, less government. I don't know how the government even gets involved that is just ass backwards.
If people were not so self conscious - insecure about their looks and all these girl magazines making girls trip way to hard about the way they look on the outside instead of the way they act on the inside - you may not have all these people going to extremes to "look good".

and as far as the welfare of her child goes? I think everyone can agree that Patricia Krentcil doesn't have a bit of common sense when it comes to tanning. A law was written protecting all children and I guess it's up to people like teachers and school nurses or maybe other concerned family members to bring this to light because dimwits like this see no problem with it.

what good does it do to continue this trend? help them survive so we can have enough cannon fodder (and blind cheerleaders) for world war 3? people seem to forget with all this modern "prosperity" and touchy-feely 1st world nation stuff that life is a competition....the people you help survive and reproduce despite their own self-limiting stupidity don't owe you shit, and will stab you in the back the minute their survival depends on it.

Now, after being interviewed on "Good Morning America," lampooned by New York tabloids and spoofed on "Saturday Night Live," New Jersey's orange-skinned wonder is receiving an honor usually reserved for super heroes — she has been immortalized as an action figure.
HeroBuilders.com, a Connecticut-based doll maker that bills itself as "The Last American Toy Company," offers custom action figures and some likenesses of newsworthy figures. Their latest is the Tanorexic doll, a plastic female figure boasting a burnt sienna face and golden hair.
The doll, which will cost fans of Krentcil a cool $30, reuses the body from HeroBuilder's Sarah Palin action figure, according to CNN. The company was created in 2002 by Emil Vicale, and originally only sold George W. Bush dolls, according to its history page.
The site offers other action figures, such as a gun-toting President Obama, Kate and Pippa Middleton in their royal wedding wear, and one of a generic cast member on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, which cautions collectors: "ONLY 1000 units will be made Of this Big Lipped, Implant Wearing, Botox faced Conniving Evil Witch."

“There are a couple of people that want me,” Krentcil told reporters.
Krentcil then said, “Of course” when asked about doing Playboy. She then struck a pose for the camera.
Krentcil made headlines last week after police said she put her 6-year-old daughter in a tanning bed. Krentcil pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges following her arrest last month in Nutley.
“That child was never in that tanning booth,” her attorney John D. Caruso said. “She loves her child more than her own life and would never ever allow her child to go inside that tanning bed.”
Krentcil has denied putting her daughter in a tanning booth and blasted people who call her a bad mom.
“There’s somebody out there my whole life that doesn’t like me because they’re jealous, they’re fat and they’re ugly,” she said.
Krentcil is due back in court on the child endangerment charge next month.
