The GOP does not want Paul, his ideas or his input it only wants his supporters. Why he continues this unwinnable battle is ridiculous, although noble it is a waste of effort.
I will never vote for either of the 2 old parties.
A vote for the Republicans or Democrats is a wasted vote or a vote for the status-quo.
I have had enough of the crap that has been presented, no thanks.

Good luck with that overthrow the party thing.

I will vote libertarian, they think like me about freedom (and cannabis).

Too bad Olympia's moving on. One of the few moderate voices left in national Republican politics.

On a lighter note, my hometown newspaper recently endorsed the tea-party challenger to the Republican-held district. So tea party dude invites Joe Arpaio to his subsequent fundraiser.

In predictable form, Joe spilled the birther baloney and the newspaper retracted their endorsement.

Another hypothetical...

Do you 'RP for GOP' supporters really think there wouldnt be a huge stink if RP did somehow come out of the convention with the nomination?

Do you think the wallstreet puppetmasters will support Paul's version of the GOP over Obama?

Basically i dont understand why someone would think ObamaRomney is the same thing,
AND
think them running against each other would not be more advantageous to a third constant, than that person running heads up against either one...

Do you think it would be easier to win facing the full brunt of the wallstreet puppetmasters (since you all think Obama and Romney are the same coin) OR would it be easier to win if they fight amongst themselves?

Someone please explain why the GOP would back RP, and how he would get over 50% of the electoral votes,
and WHY THIS IS BETTER THAN in a three way, where all he would need is 34% to have a fighting chance (and technically not event that, once it reaches the House, the 26 smallest states could just say fuck it, we pick Dr Paul).

Where are you going to hear those facts from the MSM? Do you need a link to The Constitution?

i dont know much about her, but she sure as shit playing the partisan politics card with the healthcare.

EVENTUALLY letting the legislation out of committee, but then voting against it.

Pretty fucking lame.

define "stink"?
im truly not sure what you mean by it???

yes and no...
yes the fatcats love the soundbyte versions of RP's tax policy but hate the idea of destroying the moral hazard.
both are needed to prevent collapse.
hopefully the benefits to the fatcats would outweigh the costs enough to allow them to hedge support through superpacs(as the good doc would not take the goldman buck anyhoo)

Basically i dont understand why someone would think ObamaRomney is the same thing,
just following the money and what they have said and done.
other than their words, actions and donors there really is no reason to believe they are dissimilar

i think i can answer with a synopsis

in a general election between rom and O there are some constants we can expect. we can reasonably expect the rabid glen beck, birther, tea party type will be voting against obama.
the bleeding heart, tree hugging, peta crowd will be voting for obama.
now those votes remain the same regardless of the republican nominee.
the Rs would vote for a blind beggar because they are voting against obama.
now the tricky part...
youth most likely will be voting against whomever they are voting for in a romney obama contest. if the good doc ran 3rd then they would vote for him. however if he were to run R he still gets the youth vote AND the republican vote.(republicans will not be voting for rom but against obama)
now there are independents split cleanly in the two against camps however, are quite firmly for the good doc.
the crossover dems (like occupiers) are the kicker! they would NEVER vote romney and would likely vote O for want of good choice but, would vote for paul.

so
romney gets the against o vote
but paul gets the against obama AND the indy, youth and crossover dems.

Ron Paul gets rock-star treatment at a tea party rally outside the Texas Capitol on Sunday.

AUSTIN — Ron Paul told thousands of supporters in his home state Sunday that they "have infiltrated the Republican Party" in the name of liberty.

The GOP presidential hopeful and congressman from Lake Jackson appeared with his son Rand, a U.S. senator from Kentucky, outside the Texas Capitol. Members of the rally crowd screamed themselves hoarse while sweating under the unrelenting afternoon sun.

"The revolution is working," the elder Paul said. "We have infiltrated the Republican Party and we will convert the Republican Party into defenders of Liberty."

Texas holds its presidential, congressional and state legislative primaries on May 29. Paul has attracted big crowds on college campuses in many states, but hasn't won any presidential caucuses or primaries.

He has 93 delegates to the national Republican convention, according to an Associated Press count, compared with the 859 held by presumptive GOP nominee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Paul hit major Libertarian themes, talking of runaway government spending devaluing American currency and envisioning a world in which the U.S. Federal Reserve's control of monetary policy is obsolete. He promised to send U.S. troops home from foreign conflicts and stamp out overregulation of everything from health care policy to milk production.

The crowd frequently interrupted him with cries of "President Paul." And when they chanted "End the Fed," Paul smiled and said, "That is a very good idea."

He later added that, "We want to take care of our own business, and get the feds out of our lives."

Both Paul and his son endorsed another speaker at the rally, former Texas solicitor general Ted Cruz, a tea party favorite who is one of four major senatorial candidates vying for the Republican nomination to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

"The establishment is on the run. They are scared," Cruz said. "Career politicians in both parties just want to hold on to power."

Cruz said the tea party "tidal wave" that began in 2010 is still going strong. He said he wants to get rid of the U.S. Departments of Education, Commerce and Energy, and the National Endowment for the Arts, and that he'd "most like to eliminate the IRS," doing away with federal income taxes levied by the agency.

Ron Paul implored the crowd to "send Ted to the Senate because Rand needs help." Rand Paul said Cruz could beat back a federal "nanny state" where "38 federal agencies are armed," including SWAT teams controlled by the Department of Agriculture.

"We've let our government get away from us," the younger Paul said.

Cruz chided his chief rival in Texas' Senate primary, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, for killing a bill in the state Senate last session that would have criminalized excessive pat-downs at airport security after the federal government threatened to ground all flights into and out of Texas if the law became a reality.

Cruz said "the lieutenant governor didn't want to stand and fight."

The elder Paul noted that he voted against the creation of the agency responsible for airport security, the Transportation Security Administration, and that he had subsequently introduced unsuccessful legislation that would have meant "a TSA agent can do nothing that you can't do."

"So, if you can't grope a stranger, and you go to prison," he said, "if anybody at the airport gropes a stranger, and he pretends he's allowed to because he belongs to the government, he should be personally liable."

The national Tea Party Express sponsored Sunday's rally, but the crowd wasn't always ready to embrace the group's message.

When Tea Party Express chairwoman Amy Kremer tried to sing the praises of Cruz to start the rally, she was met with shrieks of "Ron Paul! Ron Paul!" She finally responded, "You're going to hear from Congressman Paul, I promise."

That appeased the crowd for a bit, but when she continued to talk about the Senate race in Texas, her words were drowned out again by chants of "We want Ron Paul!"

RP trying to restore the republican party back to its roots is a waste of effort? Really? Republicans aren`t starting to lean his way on issues like the fed? Your vote for the libertarian nominee is going to do more on such issues? Typical do nothing but sit back and critisize remark. Your little "protest" vote isn`t gonna change crap. Dr. Paul is smart enough to know how to play the game. Lucky for people like you, others fight and claw no matter how un-winnable you think it is...

in the past I would normally say that a 3rd party run is next to impossible BUT with enough money who knows. I do know that the two party system can and has removed and eliminated any 3rd party attempt so far BUT like everything in life, we can't assume to know everything or how things can and will play out.

Now going with the basics of that two party system it would actually be best to beat one of the two versus trying to go heads up against both of them.

3 Party system is just too big for the 2 party system however if we the people ever got up and gave a damn who knows what could happen.

Anybody catch the election results on the other side of the world? Austerity is a dying concept.

This isn't going to help Republicans who concentrate 100% their efforts on spending cuts while Europe is showing the world that austerity doesn't work during recessions, contractions, high unemployment, low demand, etc. Couple this with Japan's lost decade of expansion and we have justification to pursue more stimulus spending.

Don't take my word for it. If France' newly elected president has his way, stimulus will be the order of the day and Merkel won't have the power to say no. As more Euro countries stimulate their economies, Americans will realize that deficit reduction is best pursued during expansion, low unemployment, high demand periods.

It may be too late to affect the 2012 cycle. But a stimulated Euro will generate demand and expand their economies enough to show Americans that austerity during economic downturns doesn't work.
