Does this to me often. First try is mostly fine getting in, but if I have to refresh more than once to get it to load, I end up with this error much of the time. Get the same thing in Chrome too. Normally have to wait an hour and try again.

Have you tried using a different browser? Chat is working fine for me.

:thank you:
Thank you so much for the suggestion, HGOz!!

...I meant to mention all the different things I've tried:
I updated Java, clicked the "remember me" box, cleared cookies, restarting the 'puter, etc...

...But, I had not tried a different browser yet, so upon reading your suggestion I tried a few other browsers, to no avail...

It's weird it's only some people, some of the time, but most seem to still get in ok and it seems to just go randomly from person to person...
For instance- Mesa was having this problem the other day, but it was still working fine for me, (from same house, but different 'puters and browsers);
then after a few hours, it suddenly started working again...
Chat was working fine most of yesterday for both of us, and then mine went down last night and hasn't been working since, but of course his still works. :dunno:

Thank you so much for the suggestion, HGOz! :flowers2:

Whyyy i cant chat nooo i think im going to die.. what will i do without chat. (no seriously its not working for me).

Three different browsers, reboot a few times, deleting all temp internet files & cookies, uninstalling/reinstalling java,
and even some of them fancy pants things that dont even have to do with chat like flash. Started happening maybe a few months ago?

If anybody has any suggestions for us folks who cannot get into chat that would be nice!
If it keeps happening maybe some chatters start a chat donation fund?

I know this happens to maybe a 1/4 of regular chatters and just hope it doesn't keep new folks from coming in,
especially if they are in need of urgent gardening advice.

Anyhow peace n tokes folks.

maybe the old code of chat cannot handle the immense power us tokers create when chatting.. that is about as far as my tech "knowledge" goes.

it's not about changing the browser, it's about changing the browser's java settings and permissions for icmag.com. Therein lies 90% of the problems ppl experience.

What about the other 10%? My java settings are "Allow all sites to run JavaScript."

I've also deleted all temp internet files, cache files, etc. and then re installed java. Also restarted comp,
plus did all that stuff i tried in the previous post, no dice.

Thanks for your time Skip it is much appreciated :)

What browser are you using? Make sure you are allowing icmag to put cookies on your computer via your browser settings.

Check all your browser settings there are more besides the java... You may need to add exceptions for icmag.com.

If you have an overall security setting, you can set it for low temporarily and then see if you can load the chat.

I am using chrome, cookie settings are Allow local data to be set

. I added icmag to allow pop-ups that is the only restriction i have on currently.

one of the errors i get:

No data received
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

Thanks Skip

have you tried other browsers?

I don't use chrome. Don't need google tracking every page I browse.

Google tracks everything you search for on the Internet...
Google Chrome tracks everything you browse on the web
Google + tracks you, your friends and social relationships and interactions
Google Mail tracks all your email correspondence
Google Android tracks all your phone calls, messages, addresses, texts, in addition to above.
Google Street View photographed and mapped your house, recorded your IP#, router ID#, and much more.
Google now integrates all this data with any google accounts you have signed up for and your personal info you recorded with them (like CCs, home addy, etc).
Google is lobbying for the new CISPA bill which makes it legal to do all this and covers their asses for having already given ALL this info to the US Government.
