Old Bag of Soil?

Hey all,

Quick question here.

So I found some bags of happy frog sitting in the attic, they are 3+ years old, do you think the nutrients that are already in the soil will still be viable?

Summertime this attic gets up to 120+ degrees and like stated before found them up there unopened and therefore unadulterated.

Thoughts?

Ill probably mix them in the garden regardless but was just curious how beneficial it will be versus dirt strait out of the yard.

Thanks

PS found this on their website-

Don’t Treat Your Soil Like Dirt!® Bring home a bale of our organic soil conditioner, and your garden will thank you. We blend Happy Frog® by hand, in small batches, checking for quality every step of the way. In every bag, you’ll find finely screened, pH-balanced forest humus, earthworm castings, and bat guano, not to mention beneficial microbes that stimulate root development and help plants access nutrients in the soil. We also add humic acid to help increase the uptake of important micronutrients.

I'm gonna have to say yes, if there unopened/not used. It might be composted a bit too.
One thing I would do is; cut the top or bottom open, check for mold/critters, smell it, then carefully flip the bag and repeat. It's best done in a wheel-barrow or tarp.

Soil is gonna be soil. It's never bad, just sometimes has to be amended with some spices here and there.

Right on, I actually just made a makeshift table out of some plywood 2x4s and lined it with plastic. I poured two bags of soil into it and placed 2 - 4ft T5's above that.

O, just went bag and double checked for pests in the soil after reading this and didn't notice any, good call.
I was looking over it under a little handheld magnifying glass

Think Im going to use it for my tomatoes and cucumbers since my herb garden is already in for the most part and has been enjoying our mild spring and plenty of rain thus far.

Im glad I waited on the tomatoes this year though, last year I tried to get them in early in the season and we had plenty of rain which just stunted them all together.
Hopefully with a kind season and proper care I should be making plenty cans of tomato and marinara sauces along with a new... A variety of pickles

On a side note I had another three bags of soil that wouldn't fit in the table nor were needed elsewhere so they got dumped on the good ole manure pile.

Ill post back later in a week or two as to whether or not this fine "aged" happy frog had any significant effect on their early stage of growth

Thanks GrowersUnite for the input. And for anyone else concerned/interested in aged soil and its effects on tomatoes and cucumbers....
More to Come!
