I just rebuilt my room, and the process took longer than expected. During the build I had nowhere to put my mothers, therefore they were lost. So here I go looking for a few mothers to get back to production, and pull some smoke too.

Over a year ago I grew some soil plants of the following genetics. I had to leave town for a while before everything was sexed. My wife missed a male until it was too late. The result: A bunch of seeds. So I am growing some combination of any two of these 6 strains. ALL the seeds were mixed together and I never found out what strain the male was.

HARDWARE

4x 400W HPS Lamps 6" Sunsystem hoods
4x 2'X2' Botanicare tables
45pint dehuey
12000 BTU a/c
150W MH for future mother(s)

GOAL

The plan is to grow the seed plants out in the E+F tables until I can cut at least two clones from each plant. As soon as the cuttings are taken, I will swich the original seed plants to 12/12. As soon as they all show sex I will cull them all along with any previous clones taken from the male plants. All remaining female clones will immediately fill the tables and be thrown into flower. I will then get a cutting from each pheno which I will keep alive until harvest when I can decide which one or ones I will keep.

We will be starting with about 40 seedlings, hoping for at least 20 females to choose from.

Pics of room and seedlings to follow

I'm trying to figure out how to post pics. But they are in my album if anyone cares to look, or let me know how to post em.

Oh, the seeds I am running now are from an accidental genetic mashup of the list in my first post.

last pics for now

I've jumped on the Bluelab train. Hopefully it is as good as everyone says. I was VERY dissapointed in my last 2 milwaukee meters. Ended up finishing my last grow with nothing to check ph. I keep saying I need to get some drops for backup, but I keep forgetting.

Room temps are at 78f with the humidity set at 70%. My hygrometer took a crap on me, but I will have a new one in there by the time flowering starts. I loaned my Co2 equip to a buddy, who is a bit larger scale and in the midst of a run, so I will let him have it for now. But once I find some new mothers, after this run, I'll get back to Co2 injection.

The leaves on my seedlings are twisting slightly. My new ph pen is hydrating, we'll get that squared away tomorrow. Still running fresh water for current seedlings, will start a light nutrient solution soon. I've got about 20 beans popping now, about a week behind the ones shown. I just decided that I needed more :)

This will be run with only GH bloom and micro at 5ml/10ml per gallon veg and 8ml/16ml per gallon bloom. No other additives for now.

I will keep anything promising, and make the final decisions after the pheno has been monocropped in it's own table, as I am aware I cannot provide everything they will need being so mixed with 40 plants on 2 rezs. Once this unfortunate "Mother Run" is complete, then the fun will begin. I will have the tables split 2 and 2 roughly 30 days apart, at 4 plants per square foot, always flowering. This is my first grow diary ever, I guess it was meant to be that I must start from scratch. Hopefully seeing this whole process will help some people in the future.

Update:

Room temps are at 78f humidity 65% The table with 18 was started about 1.5 weeks before the table with 9. My germ rates are horrible, I should have stored my seeds better. I was hoping for a total of 40 plants but here we are with 27. I'm not going to pop any more right now just gonna move forward with the 27 plants.

These are the older plants. 700ppm (GH micro:bloom at 1:2), ph 5.8, water temp 76f
picture.php

Younger plants. 0ppm, ph 5.8, water temp 77f

I know this is boring, but we will get to the fun part soon enough.

Unknown genetics that came from top notch genetics :) The last time I grew out these seeds I ended up with 16 females, 2 sucked. From the other 14 I had a hard time selecting a keeper because they were all good smoke. Hoping for the same results this time. Again these seeds are the result of an accidental MJ orgy of the following genetics.

Update

temps 79f, ph 5.8, ppm 750 (both rez's, 2:1 GH micro:bloom)

These are the older plants about 3 weeks old most have been topped twice. All of these plants will be used to donate cuttings then show sex. Once sexed the seed plants will all be culled along with associated male clones. All female clones will be used to fill the tables.

These are a little behind at about 2 weeks old

As you can see I've had some issues. I had some necrosis on the inititial growth on quite a few plants. I had my ppms way too high for the early stage of growth. Changed rez to lower ppms, and have had no more necrosis on any new growth.

picture.php

picture.php

But now some are showing chlorosis.

picture.php

I'm wondering if they are underfed at this point, it may be time to increase the ppms. Also wondering if this has something to do with my tap water (ppm 350), so I really only have 350 ppm of nutes in the solution. Though I've never had these issues before. I've also never used hydro for a seed run before. I'm going to start a thread in the infirmary, but if you have any suggestions please feel free to chime in here.

Things are looking much better except for 2 or 3 plants. But I knew I would have hard time keeping 27 seed plants happy with 2 rez's.

I've decided to take a different route. I flipped to 12/12 today. I will take cuttings from the females only as they show sex. I'll cull the seed plants when they have all shown sex. Then fill 4 tables with the female clones as soon as they root, and flower immediately. The plan is to get 64 clones with at least 2-3 from each female pheno, so we'll end up with 16 clones in each 2x2 table.

So here we are, seed plants day 1 12/12

Ok, I know this thread has been kind of lame but, it's about to get more interesting.

Here are the original seed plants after they have been ravaged. Of the original 27 plants we are left with 16 females. The males have been culled. These will be culled as well but I need to see some roots first.

picture.php

And, the 85 clones (roughly 5 from each of the 16 females). I'm going to get another propogation tray today, my other had holes in the corners.

picture.php

As soon as they root, I will be placing roughly 16 in each of the 4 tables and flowering immediately (hopefully 4 from each pheno). I will also keep 1 of each of the 16 females in the veg room to be a potential mother. So, the real show is close to beginning.

Well I had a mishap. I put too much hydroton in the table and when I planted I was too tired and too exhausted to notice. I was very busy and didn't check on them until almost 2 days later when I found out the most of the rockwool was not being touched by the water. I may lose 3-5 plants due to this mistake. I also have a ballast out, it still burns the lamp but is humming to loud to even use. I will replace it this weekend. I will allow a few days to recover from the lack of water, then flip to 12/12. Here are some pics:

Good luck man...once the roots 'catch' on to the nute solution coming up in the trays they should be alright. I would keep the ppms low to start out...

Flipped to 12/12 today. Started with 4 clones from each of the 16 phenos equalling 64. Turns out one pheno was male, and I've lost 2 to the previously mentions mistake, and may end up losing 2 more (for now, they are still green). Of the 58 remaining, most look good. I knew it was going to be a challenge with different phenos sharing a rez, but things are not too bad. Also, life has been hectic here lately and I have been spending just enough time in the growroom to get by. With that said, I am pleased with where things are right now. I will post some more pics in the next day or two.

Sorry there haven't been any updates. I was planning on weekly diary, but life got in the way. I have been extremely busy, and neglected my grow a bit. One table suffered due to my mishap in the beginning; but, all in all, it's looking pretty damn good considering how little time I've spent in there.

Here we are at 38 days flowering
