i have noticed that almost every question on here has a 50/50 vote either way. defoliation, flushing, hydro vs soil, organic vs chem. well i like to test these things myself to get solid answers.

i usually flush but his time i had what i knew was a really tasty strain and tried pulling some without a flush. well it is my opinion based on this that a flush is vital.

ebb and flo
sensi and overdrive at 1.2 to harvest tastes like shit. flushed tasts great.

I think you get so many debates...is because taste is completely subjective. What tastes good or "alright" to someone...might make another person choke.

Perhaps a pepsi(blind taste test) challenge? Which ultimately is something that you will need to commit too...as you need two test batches...which takes time.

The question isn't really to flush or not flush, it's determining if you need to flush.. If I grew in hydro, I'd flush, but since I grow organically I don't flush at all and my bud tastes wonderful.. I also don't use any chemicals, so there isn't anything to flush out

I've just never not flushed and wanted to see for myself. The unflushed batch coats your moth and throat with a taste that is less appealing than the flushed stuff. Metallic/ tingly tasting.

Poppy-cock!

You think that organically grown weed is fueled by hippie-fairie dust or what? Um, no, they eat the exact same 'chemicals' that synthetically grown plants do, they are just dependent on soil microbes to help them do it.

I flush for as long as I can or need, sometimes a full 14 days - GH in coco. My herbs taste better than the best I can import for the most part.

lol one of the oldest debates ever. shows how many people failed chemistry and biology. nitrogen is nitrogen whether it comes in worm shit or from a bottle after being taken from some other animals shit or urine, or bug shit as is the case with the urea in miracle gro products. the difference is in organics it's absorbed as needed by the plant and with chemicals the plants just have to take it. which is why you must flush in chemical nute setup so that you can leach out all the salts and the plant uses up what it has stored in it's leaves.

i was and still am a firm believer in flushing. just wanted to taste it for myself. if nothing else to be able to know the taste.

Nitrogen gets a bad rap.

Nitrogen will break down during dry and cure --- if the bud is hospitable to the biological processes that allow it to happen. If it's loaded with salts, the bud doesn't cure, the N just sits, and well...it's schwag.

So yes, N tastes bad, but you're only tasting it due to the overabundance of other compounds. Compounds that also taste terrible.

So, an organic plant and a chemmy plant are both dark green at harvest, but otherwise grown well with identical conditions. The organic plant has a chance at curing out to be good smoke, the chemmy plant not so much. The chemmy plant is force fed salts, and with no flush, they are still very present in the plant material and you have gross herb.

I know organic people that pull down certain strains still very green and the buds still cure out to be tasty. I have never pulled down a non organic that was still very green and found a way to make it taste good.

nevertheless, even though i do organic soil now I still aim for my plants to get very pale and colorful before they are pulled. cause it's still better

Personally, I think a good flush just yellows the leaves and clears out the Chlorophyll making it tast better with less of a cure. Could it be just the Chlorophyll making the weed have a bad after taste when not flushed? May be some are confusing Chlorophyll with chemicals left behind?

That said, I flush for 1 week with just clear water and grow in Promix - just to be safe (the flushing part). I could be wrong as I have always flushed at least a week, just an idea.
